Role Summary/Purpose

Essential Responsibilities

• Developing innovative engineering design concepts and leading mechanical, electro-mechanical and thermal simulation efforts to achieve stringent requirements for performance, reliability, cost and manufacturability for MRI magnets, gradient coils and components • Preparation/presentation of design analysis reports and part/assembly drawing reviews • Developing product, component test and purchase specifications • Coordinating component testing and documentation of results

Qualifications/Requirements

• MS Mechanical Engineering or related field• At least 3 years of experience in mechanical design• Ability to analyze and design complex products:- FEA and/or CFD experience with ANSYS- Experience in numerical analysis tools and optimization methods• Ability to work with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams with developed teamwork, and interpersonal skills.• Flexibility in handling challenging, multi-tasking workload• Fluent verbal and written English language communication skills

Desired Characteristics

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field• 5 years of experience with MRI magnet and/or gradient coil design and manufacture• Proficient with modeling using PRO-E software• Proficient with analysis and programing using Matlab• Demonstrated leadership program/project planning capability• Experience with pressure vessel design, analysis and testing• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification• Design for reliability experience with use of FMEA, Weibull Analysis and DFR tools• Design for manufacturing experience
