OBJECTIVES OF THE POST
To supervise the Student Academic Services team of the Registry and take the lead responsibility in student enquiries and advising for undergraduate students, masters students, exchange students (including 2+2); to develop and sustain a focus on service to the academic community.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Your main duties will be:
1. To take a lead responsibility in the area of student enquiries and advising:
- Supervise enquiries service for students, including in-person, phone and e-mail
- Establish response protocols to ensure accurate and timely responses
- Ensure that problems are escalated to other team leads, or to the Head of Registry
- Provide administrative support to the personal tutor system
- Identify students with academic difficulties and work with appropriate offices to provide them academic advice
- Supervise the annual update of student handbooks
2. To manage, in collaboration with the University of Liverpool Programme coordinator and other offices on campus, advice and service to students choosing the 2+2 route. Coordinate with the Records and Systems team for reliable data exchange with University of Liverpool.
3. Design and support enrollment processes including admissions, registration and induction programmes and advising events for special cohorts of students, such as Masters programs, Single Liverpool Awards students, exchange students, visiting students, international students. Develop staff expertise in the evaluation of international high school and university credentials
4. To participate in management of Registry
- Participate in hiring initiatives
- Establish and monitor work goals and professional development of staff in the team
- Monitor team’s service levels and outcomes, and develop strategies for continuous improvement
- Contribute to the development and execution of the Registry’s annual operational plan
- Stay up-to-date on registrarial best practices.
5. Other responsibilities, suitable to the position, as assigned by Head of Registry.
Reporting Relationships
The postholder will report to the Head of Registry and will work closely, with other team leaders in the Registry and with colleagues in the Centre for Academic Affairs.
Criteria for the Post
Essential:
- Five years’ working experience for bachelor degree holders and 3 years for Masters
- Good interpersonal skills
- Effective communication skills, in both verbal and written English
- Demonstrated commitment to high-quality service
- Calmness under pressure; diplomatic.
- Supervisory experience in service industry, higher education or consulting environment
- Able to manage own workload across a broad range of activities with an annual cycle
Desirable:
- Experience in working within or liaising with institutions of higher education and government bodies
- Experience of working in an international organization
