TITLE: MANAGER, R&D CHINA
DIVISION / DEPARTMENT / GROUP: PRODUCT R&D DIVISION
REPORTS TO: GM, PRODUCT ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
JOB STATUS: EXEMPT
LOCATION: SHANGHAI
Role & Responsibilities of Engineering
The Product R&D role and responsibilities are to develop the company's branded product lines based on the Branded Business direction and Product Roadmap. The ChinaR&D group is established to expand the Product R&D capability by reinforcing R&D capability having good communication with manufacturing partners in China
JOB PURPOSE
The Manager ChinaR&D is responsible for the product feasibility study support and the product -R&D by scratch-building strong team with several new members and working with ODM partners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1) Represent the R&D for assigned projects as a project member. Projects are driven by a Project Core Team (PCT) that comprises several team members from various related departments.
2) Proceed product through R&D on agreements in PCT and approvals from the business unit.
3) Lead team members incl. performance appraisal.
4) Make budget and manage to control.
5) Research for new technologies and materials.
6) Support the critical or relevant manufacturing issues with manufacturing partners in China.
7) Keep good communication with GM in Japan and reporting timely.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
· Achieve enhancements, improvements and creativeness over every product.
· Improve and control daily process and quality.
· Control and commit the required product quality, cost and schedule for every product development R&D projects.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education / Experience)
· Bachelor degree on BSor MS.
· Or equivalent background and experience
· At least 10 yrs experiences in Consumer Electronics or IT product R&D, engineering
· At least 3 years experiences in R&D or Engineering team leading experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS (including language requirement)
· Fluent English and Chinese communication. Optional Japanese.
· Ownership and Leadership mentality
· Very good team management. Good communicator with team work spirit.
· Be open to ideas. Seek new challenges and opportunities. Look for new ways to move our business forward. Work to open up new markets.
· Experienced in managing industrial R&D projects
· Financial knowledge to make & control budget
· Frequent domestic travelling, but Infrequent international traveling
· Achievement orientation
· Conceptual thinking
· Convincing others
· Listening to others
· Organizational awareness
· Relationship building
