DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Use engineering principles to design new products or make improvements on existing products. Coordinate all phases of development including creation, prototypes, testing, and analysis. Participation in Companywide continuous improvement efforts including but not limited to Lean,5S, Kaizen, Cost Reduction and Global design efforts.

*Establish and monitor adherence to time lines and schedules. Determine and establish specifications through engineering calculations and layouts.

*Coordinate efforts with Supply Chain Management and outside suppliers, utilizing resources, information or assistance from suppliers. May design tooling, fixtures or product components

*Prepare sketches or complete detail and layout drawings from verbal or written instructions for complex products or equipment. Design and develop new models, mechanisms, or adaptations for a particular product or application.

*May receive general direction from Project/Product Engineer. Develop correct proportions, giving consideration to stress, speed, weight, and operational details.

*Requires high degree of technical knowledge and skill. May supervise lower level drafters on some phases of design.

*Perform complex and difficult design tasks requiring the operation and application of Computer Aided Design equipment such as digitizer, plotter, CRT and associated peripheral equipment.

*Working knowledge of Solidworks, Solid Designer and PDM works helpful.

*Requires extensive skill and knowledge of equipment capabilities, application techniques, and design limitations.

*Maintain technical coordination with Engineering and design staff. Work assignments are typified by their complexity and non-routine nature where established techniques and procedures may not exist.

*Provide work leadership to lower level C.A.D. designers, review work for quality and accuracy.

*Design of new conveyor models within an existing product line. Generate layout, assembly drawings, detail drawings, engineering change orders, Bills of Material. Will assist in the design of new product, special projects. Provide engineering assistance to sales, service and manufacturing departments.

*Responsibilities include all electrical engineering activities within the company, which includes all new product development and testing, consultation and participation in R&D projects, 3-D conveyor engineering work, liaison between Sales and Engineering, as well as checking engineering releases.

*Work is above average in complexity where fairly important non-policy decisions are required. Work is checked only intermittently before possible damage can be done. Errors in judgment may have a serious effect on other work in the department, and/or a fairly serious effect on other work of several other departments and/or a minor effect on relations outside the company.

*Support design engineers on the design of new conveyor models within an existing product line by generating engineering change orders, detail drawings, assembly drawings and Bills of Materials. Provide detail work on special projects as directed by Engineering Group Leaders.

*Job will involve occasional travel to all areas of the U.S. and Canada at short notice. Some overnight travel will be required and time away from the plant may extend to three or four days. Travel by air is a must and a passport and valid driver's license is required.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Thorough knowledge of accounting, mechanical engineering, business administration, industrial relations, purchasing, or similar functions of the business. Four year BSME required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Over 2 year's applicable experience and a 4 year degree from an accredited college.

ANALYTICAL ABILITY AND CREATIVENESS REQUIRED: Work requires extensive analytical ability; or moderate creativeness. Supervision is usually available for help and instruction.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Moderate contact with others.

OUTSIDE CONTACTS: Limited routine contact with outside people.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE OF OPERATIONS: Comprehensive knowledge of the underlying reasons for and interpretations of the major operating policies of an engineering department in a manufacturing environment.

SUPERVISION: Supervises 0.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Little physical effort; mostly in a sitting position.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Reasonably clean, comfortable surroundings, such as in a private or semi-private office. Occasional work required on the Manufacturing floor.

RISK: Very slight possibility of injury.
