Tooling Manager, Based in Kunshan

Responsible for plastic injection molds, dies and metal stamping tooling at Aliph supplier sites in Asia. Manage all aspects of tooling development and construction, including planning and feasibility, cost estimating, tool fabrication and tool and part validation. Oversee and protect Aliph's technical and financial stake in tooling development at supplier sites and serve as point-of-contact between tooling vendors and Aliph product design teams. Draw on strong leadership and mechanical engineering skills to develop innovative tooling solutions and quickly troubleshoot and correct day-to-day operational problems. Ensure all critical product design issues are identified and resolved. Track tool inventory, condition and capacity. Stay abreast of the latest technology and processes to help develop designs that are innovative, competitive and cost effective.

Requirements:

l Journeyman Mold Maker, Mold Designer or equivalent with at least 10-year experience in the injection mold making industry

l Project management skills including scheduling and resource allocation forecasting

l Thorough understanding of every aspect of a tooling shop and the mold and die manufacturing process (including Challenging cooling and extraction processes, double shot processes etc.)

l Experience on high volume and highly cosmetic surfaces and finishes

l Familiarity with metal stamping, casting, forming and finishing processes experience is desirable

l Detailed understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles and methodology

l Good leadership and reporting skills; ability to communicate well at all levels within Aliph and its supply base community

Responsibilities:

l Review Dfx and general design for part and tool design

l Approve tooling structure including cooling strategies and sourcing of key tooling components

l Audit of any outsource sources used by manufacturing partner or other tooling sources

l Regular review of tooling maintenance and maintenance processes/control

l Review project schedules and progress against schedules for tool design and building

l Review and approve equipment purchases

The ideal candidate will be bilingual, with native Putonghua ("Mandarin" Chinese) language skills and the ability to communicate well in spoken and written English.

Candidates must be willing and able to travel throughout China to support project activities at supplier sites. The ability to travel to the United States, Hong Kong, Taiwan and other foreign countries is a plus.
