Fortune 500 manufacturing company located in Suzhou. This workin location can be in Shanghai sales office or Suzhou Plant.
This position is accountable for:
- Proposing, developing, and implementing strategies and action plans to maximize the sales, increase share and penetration, and optimize the product mix of company.
- Establishing and improving brand image, awareness, and loyalty of company at all customers and end users in China
- Providing clear market-based direction to company as to macro- and micro economic market trends, opportunities for revenue, penetration and share growth, such that the very decisions relating to company's business and product direction can be made
- Coordinating all PR and marketing communications relating to the sale and promotion of company Products
- Recommending pricing strategies, implementing pricing policies and making sure they are adhered to, coordinating with the sales organization and related pricing globally
- Providing input and guidance in support of company's new technology development, as well as managing company's product portfolio in China
This position provides leadership and management of all marketing activities for company in China. It also provides functional direction to sales using market analysis to direct selling efforts. The Director of Marketing also provides market analysis and direction to the division's leadership. Internal contacts include the middle and upper management of company, and all functional departments including manufacturing, supply chain, technical engineering, sales, production planning, HR, marketing, communications, R&D and finance. External contacts include customers, other component suppliers to the same customer base, marketing research and advertising/branding agencies, government/legislative bodies, and other key influencers that are instrumental to promote company.
Job Dimensions:
In addition to the above, main areas of accountability include:
- CRM Management: Developing and implementing CRM strategy. Making sure all users are in line with the strategy, and that there is uniformity in CRM usage. Make sure we have a complete and updated view of the commercial road transport market, by segment, customer type, and geographical region
- Marketing Communication: Assuring company makes use of the most effective means of communication to reach out to customers and end-users in China. Current tools include the Internet portal, Newsletters and Direct Mail, and presence at shows. Implementation of companyand external marketing/communication best practices. Delivering the annual China Marcom budget with a clear ROI methodology. Assuring the sales organization has effective sales tools to drive company adoption
- Economic/Industry Outlook: Tracking and communicating macro-economic trends, and trends that are specific to the CV and automotive markets. Monitoring truck, trailer, and bus production and registration data. Collaborate with Sales to evaluate trends and data and forecasting the impact on company's growth
- Market Segmentation: Analysis of growth of existing and new markets across China, both in geographical and sectorial terms.Uncovering potential and implementing strategies to capture additional share and penetration at desired margins in target markets. Assuring we have the most effective channel strategy and mix across OEMs, Distributors, and Other Customers
- Competition: Monitoring actions and share of existing players and potential new entrants in the China market: steel, cast aluminium, and forged aluminium. Developing and implementing tactics to preserve and grow company's share of market
- New Product Development: Providing market intelligence related to the introduction of new products. Proposing product line extensions and managing the portfolio to optimize margins, capacity utilization, and to drive aggressive growth
- Pricing strategy, administration, and deployment: Articulation, implementation and monitoring of company's pricing strategy in China. Formulate channel strategy OEM/Distribution. Provide guidance to sales for commercial contracts, volume hedges and customer incentive/bonus schemes that drive company adoption and margin enhancement
- Forecasting: In collaboration with the sales organization, consolidate the annual commercial plan and monthly forecast that feeds in to manufacturing and financial planning. Assure consistent and timely commercial reporting to the division's leadership.
- Knowledge Transfer: Making sure that company's commercial training material stays up-to-date, and that company's commercial employees have a throrough knowledge of the technical details, as well as the specific features and benefits of company.
- Customer Satisfaction: Execution of annual customer satisfaction research. Coordination of corrective actions/improvement plans resulting from the research.
Qualifications and Experience
- Due to the commercial nature of this position, an appropriate MBA, marketing degree, or equivalent, coupled with a minimum of 10 years of experience, is required. The position calls for an individual with a strong marketing background, and proven managerial/project management skills. Given the market in which wheel products are used, the candidate will need a good understanding of the technical environment
- Incumbent must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills. Given the organizational structure, the incumbent must also posses a high degree of people skills as he/she must motivate and influence others including those not under his/her direct supervision. The candidate has the ability to communicate with different levels of the organization. Fluency in Mandarin, and the ability to communicate well in English (written & spoken) is required. The incumbent has strong computer skills, with particular command of PowerPoint and Excel.
- Incumbent must have a thorough understanding of the Chinese commercial vehicle markets, products and customers.
- The incumbent should also have excellent commercial and customer relations skills as this is a key part of properly understanding, marketing and selling wheels.
- The successful candidate has the ability to manage large amounts of data and information, and implements sustainable data systems and processes on which we can build our future. Critical thinking, strong analytical skills, and the natural urge to continuously challenge him/her self and the organization to improve performance are must-haves.
