Job Description:
· Contribute to ongoing programs and activities in the Office and develop new services as required, designed to promote best practices on campus related to learning and teaching effectiveness
· Supervise and mentor educational developers
· Support development of university policies, procedures and programs that recognize and reward teaching excellence
· Collaborate with departments and centres to support assessment strategies
· Establish strong relationship with academic community, through transparency of program priorities
· Work closely with teaching centres in Foundation Year to support the smooth transition of students from foundation year to higher years in the university
· Develop strategies to support study skills of undergraduate and postgraduate students
· Promote and support international best practices in learning and teaching strategies
· Establish key partnerships with other offices on campus related to development of appropriate technologies, facilities and methods in learning and teaching
· Liaise with external constituencies, including quality assurance offices, governmental agencies and university partners
· Develop and deliver certificate programs, in collaboration with external partners
· Monitor Office’s service levels and program outcomes, and develop strategies for continuous improvement
· Create and execute annual operational plan for the Office, based on the university’s strategic direction, in collaboration with colleagues in the Centre for Academic Affairs
· Monitor Office budget, under the direction of the Director, Centre for Academic Affairs
· Contribute to other initiatives of the Centre for Academic Affairs
University Context:
This non-academic administrative position is located in the Learning and Teaching Enhancement Office, as part of the Centre for Academic Affairs. The position reports to the Director, Centre for Academic Affairs.
Personal Requirements:
· Ph.D. or Ed.D in an appropriate field, such as educational development or instructional technology, plus five years experience in directly-related field; or Masters’ degree and equivalent experience.
· Demonstrated knowledge of issues, best practices and innovations in higher education.
· Experience in supervising staff
· Demonstrated experience in planning or program development.
· Project management experience.
· Excellent English writing and presentation skills.
· Demonstrated interest in use of technology in classroom.
· Track record of diplomacy and ability to promote teaching improvement to academic staff.
· International or cross-cultural experience an asset.
· Able to work in a high-pressure environment, undergoing continuing change.
