Responsibility Level:
Under general supervision, evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering and technology principles and techniques to assigned business problems. The candidate will work independently on projects that have moderate to high impact on the business. The candidate ensures that results meet established needs, goals and timelines.
Principal Duties:
The qualified candidate for this position will work within a team of developers on Johnson Control’s configuration software for chiller products. The candidate will be responsible for additional applications and utilities required to support this suite of software. Specific duties include:
  1. Designs, develops, documents, and implements software solutions in accordance with project specifications, ensuring completion within the planned time constraint and meeting the established objectives for quality, reliability and performance. Uses judgment in suggesting adaptations or modifications where appropriate.
  2. Analyzes the impact and feasibility of change requests on existing software and implements corrective actions.
  3. Provides both technical and administrative documentation in a timely manner for developed software and design models.
  4. Provides technical input, feedback, and consultation to other internal organizations involved in system design or implementation activities. Participate in technology transfer initiatives between IT departments, R&D, and Product Engineering.
  5. Provides instruction and recommendations in the application of sound practices in software development. Reviews coding projects.
  6. Provides field support as needed.
  7. Adheres to the Company’s Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards.



Requirements:
  1. Bachelor Degree in Computer Science; or a Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics discipline with strong Computer Science skills.
  2. 1-3 year preferred software development experience in VB, C#, ASP.NET, HTML5, Java, or related high-level language.
  3. Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems and MS Office Suite programs.
  4. Solid understanding of relational database design and query concepts
  5. Ability to manipulate large data collections in both databases and spreadsheets.
  6. Ability to understand technical material.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with engineers, analysts, marketing personnel, designers, and drawing and software developers.
  8. Ability to work independently, with good organizational skills and the flexibility and adaptability to work on multiple projects with exceptional attention to detail.
  9. High degree of interpersonal skills including both oral and written communication.
  10. Ability to adapt new languages, methodologies and platforms to meet the needs of the project.
  11. Good English language skills are required.


The Ideal Candidate will also meet the following requirements:

  1. Understanding heat transfer principles.
  2. Some experience with software development and shell scripting in a UNIX (Solaris) operating system environment
  3. Familiar with source code repositories such as MS TFS.
  4. Familiar with .Net MVC design, JavaScript, JQuery, Bootstrap, XML, and CSS.
  5. Understanding data-binding between API and JavaScript framework, particularly JSON and AngularJS.
