Qualification & Responsibility

General Description

1. Welfare Advisor System is composed of Welfare Advisors of XJTLU, offering non-academic support, and Buddy System is composed of buddies for local year-1 students, and international students. Both systems are the vital supporting system of Five-Star Education Model.

2. The vision of both Welfare Advisor system and buddy system is to offer a platform for mutual communication between XJTLU and students; to integrate relevant resources to guide and support students efficiently; to construct class mode, and take the unique education model of XJTLU in practice; to create a healthy and vigorous campus to cater for various tastes of students.

Main Responsibility and Accountability

1. To support the operation of the Welfare Advisor System;

2. To liaise with academic department and teaching centers to establish collaboration mechanism and system to provide satisfying community and supports for students where necessary;

3. To coordinate the operation of the Buddy Program System;

4. To coordinate senior Welfare Advisor/Y1 Welfare Advisor and conduct meeting at least once per month;

5. To monitor Welfare Advisors’ performance and conduct QA twice per semester;

6. To transfer information between other departments and internal teams;

7. To analyze student’s data to early detect concerning students;

8. To maintain Telescope system data and make effort to improve the system continuously;

9. To assist Welfare Advisor with urgent cases if any and follow up;

10. To promote Welfare Advisor System and Buddy System;

11. To act as Welfare Advisor, looking after about 100-150 students.

Position Qualification Requirement

Skills and Knowledge

1. Excellent communication, coordination and presentation skills;

2. With solid cross-cultural background, excellent written and spoken skills in both English and Chinese languages;

3. Highly proficient IT skills: MS Office (Word, Excel and Access), Outlook, worldwide web, databases, spreadsheets and PowerPoint;

4. Ability to work on a variety of tasks at the same time, and to organize and prioritize them, including coping with unpredictable volumes of work and busy periods;

5. Dependability, reliability and ability to produce work of high quality.

6. With enthusiasm and good familiarly with the work of student administrative affairs;

7. With solid knowledge of and good familiarity with XJTLU culture and education philosophies;

8. Highly motivated and professionally committed, and willing to work on weekends and even on holidays, where necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

1. Major in Psychology, Education related would be preferred;

2. Ideally with master degree.
