Role Summary/Purpose

The C919 Systems / Software Engineering Quality Assurance Engineer conducts activities to ensure engineering compliance to applicable regulatory, industry, customer, and company standards, processes, and procedures with regard to product development. This position is in support of GE / AVIC Joint Venture C919 program.

Essential Responsibilities

• Be responsible for providing independent assurance that: External standards (including governmental, industrial, and contractual) as applicable to Systems Engineering development are met; Internal GE procedures, policies, and processes applicable to Systems Engineering activities are followed; and, Systems developed by GE Aviation are the result of suitable, rigorous, and structured processes enacted throughout the product lifecycle • Conduct assessments / audits of Systems / Software Engineering activities to gauge compliance with applicable regulatory, industrial, and company standards via audit, review, and other methods • Review technical documentation with a view to Quality and Compliance requirements and act as approval authority • Participate on Process Improvement teams and assist with AS9100 process activities • Generate plans and work instructions for execution of Systems / Software Engineering Quality Assurance functions • Serve as domain expert with regard to Systems/Software Engineering standards including RTCA DO-297, DO-178B, and SAE ARP 4754 • Participate in Systems / Software level and product level interdisciplinary product development teams • Provide regular and thorough status reports and data to the Systems / Software Engineering Quality Assurance Manager • Provide expert advice on alternative approaches to Systems / Software Engineering activities, when appropriate • Ensure Quality records are maintained, metrics collected, and reports given back to the business • Evaluate, develop, and publish quality metrics and audit results to the project team and stakeholders • Interface with, and provide support to, regulatory authorities, customer representatives, and supplier representatives • Conduct training to quality processes as needed • Conduct root cause / corrective action investigations using appropriate procedures • Generate and maintain objective evidence of assessment activities for customer and regulatory review

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in an Aerospace Product Development environment

• Strong personal code of ethics and high levels of integrity • ASQ, AS9100 or other professional certifications • Recognized as an authority in a quality assurance field • Strong oral and written communication skills • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills • Personal computer (PC) proficiency • Extensive background in aerospace electronics / avionics engineering and development • A thorough understanding of FAA/EASA aircraft and systems certification processes (TC, STC, PMA, TSO, etc.)
