Position Overview:
The Alumni Relations and Event Specialist is an integral member of Duke Kunshan University development team, which consists of professionals in Durham, NC as well as Kunshan. This integrated team has joint accountability for fundraising and business development to find resources and establish networks to support the short-term as well as long-term success of Duke Kunshan. The Alumni Relations and Event Specialist is responsible for the planning and implementation of programs that strategically engage alumni with the goals of building a robust alumni network, enhancing Duke and Duke Kunshan branding and creating supportive eco-system for Duke Kunshan. The Alumni Relations and Event Specialist will also partner with Development and Event Planning colleagues to plan, organize and facilitate special activities and events to maximize donor and alumni interest in and engagement with the University in support of the institute’s advancement goals.

Essential Duties:
? Build critical infrastructure of DKU alumni relations program for graduate program alumni and upcoming undergraduate alumni
? Coordinating with Duke University alumni relations team, bridge the Duke Alumni relations program in China, strengthening volunteer leadership and initiating or supporting events related with Duke Kunshan
? Develop a Duke Kunshan alumni orientation program for DKU students and new graduates, to build a great alumni culture for the long term
? In coordination with Duke Kunshan career service team(s), support alumni career mentorship program to establish the link between Duke and Duke Kunshan alumni and students on campus
? Events: Help with planning, marketing and execution of events. Help with Advisory Board meetings, Foundation Board meetings, elite dinners, and other special events like gala dinners, charitable auctions, Distinguished Speaker Series, Duke International Forum, etc.
? Other tasks as assigned.
? University employees' job responsibilities will continue to expand in scope and depth as the University grows in size and complexity in its programs.


Required Qualifications:
? Candidate should at least possess an undergraduate degree. Graduate degree is preferred.
? A minimum of two to three years of experience in alumni relations or external affairs with demonstrated accomplishment in fostering productive relationships with volunteers and developing volunteer leadership.
? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively and courteously with colleagues, alumni and the public.
? The demonstrated ability to strategize, implement and build programs, events and activities.
? Flexibility and initiative, as well as the ability to work independently, combined with the skills for thriving in a team environment to achieve institutional goals
? Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines
