Job Role : Continuous Improvement Manager
Reports to : General Manager, Devro (Nantong) Limited
Purpose :
？ To champion continuous business improvement in Devro (Nantong) through the application of best practice frameworks and techniques.
？ To develop a sustainable continuous improvement program which builds the skills and expertise of individuals at all levels allowing them to identify and lead improvement efforts across all areas of the business resulting in the delivery of business performance benefits.
Key Responsibilities :
？ Develop and maintain a continuous improvement strategy consistent with the overall business strategy which provides clear direction on priority areas and the skills required for successful delivery of the above
？ Deliver improved business performance through project identification, chartering and team selection while utilising best practice project management approaches where appropriate.
？ To lead and manage an Excellence Team/Excellence Network concept to provide targeted development opportunities for staff via periods of secondment or short-term allocation to projects to enable the above to happen.
？ Communicate effectively to encourage and inspire individuals at all levels in the organization to embrace change aligning where possible their own needs with that of the business.
？ Develop and deliver relevant training materials to individuals or groups from all levels in the organization– this could include Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing style offerings and would combine both practical and classroom style delivery.
？ Support and deliver training for Six Sigma certified staff at Green Belt and Yellow Belt levels as well as coach and mentor on both project-based and individual needs where training has taken place.
？ Maintain and develop the employee suggestion scheme and explore other methods of harvesting the benefits from employee engagement.
？ To play a full part in the Operations Management team within the plant and provide facilitation input at times to support this and wider groups.
？ Develop and maintain business links, both internal and with the wider business community, to enable shared learning and exploration of other best practice thinking
Special Features
Employee engagement is critical to the success of any Continuous Improvement Programme and appropriate communication techniques and channels must be employed by the job holder to enable sustained improvement and not just short term impact. A key part of the role will be visibility and interest in all areas of the Nantong Plant and be involved with all Departments.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills Required
A Degree level qualification preferably in a business related subject or relevant Manufacturing/Engineering equivalent as well as Black Belt Accreditation.
A broad experience of Continuous Improvement frameworks and techniques with particular practical knowledge of Lean Sigma style methodologies within a manufacturing environment. Elements such as Kaizen, 5S, OEE, TPM, Value Stream Mapping, Waste elimination, DMAIC must be clearly understood and a track record of implementing the above.
Skilled in interrogating complex business information systems both financial and non-financial
Well organised with strong project management skills.
Good financial understanding to ensure that business benefits can be financially verified.
Summary
The ideal candidate will need to be highly enthusiastic and self motivated, able to work under pressure and to strict deadlines in an ever changing environment. They must possess strong attention to detail and outstanding communication skills. The drafting of documents, reports and statistical information will be required; therefore very good computer literacy is vital.
