Duties:
The College Counsellor is responsible for administering all aspects of the college search and admissions process. They will be expected to:
? Help students and families aspire realistically and choose their destination wisely
? Do all that they legitimately and honestly can to ensure each student's college application is successful
? Represent the school in the best possible light and boost its profile in the higher education community

Qualification and Skills:
? Master's Degree or equivalent in a related field
? Minimum 5 years' experience in similar position
? Familiarity with and understanding of recent developments in higher education
? At least two years successful experience in an international school setting
? Complete fluency both in Chinese and English (equivalent to mother tongue)
? Technologically competent in basic resources and programmes: demonstrated experience with Naviance and UCAS
? Understanding of and experience working with non-native English speaking students and parents

Responsibilities:
? Educate students and parents about universities, academic majors & programmes, the admissions process, trends, procedures, and admission testing.
? Provide an individualized counselling service for students in Year 10 – Year 13 which should include advice on academic pathways.
? Encourage admissions representatives to visit the campus and facilitating meetings between university representatives and our students.
? Liaise with the counsellors' administrator to maintain accurate and up to date records on students, including external exam results, internal Progress Report data and transcripts.
? Write an official school recommendation or reference for each Year 13 student in the caseload.
? Contribute to the deliver careers counselling curriculum as needed to Year 10 & Year 11 cohorts.
? Assist in coordinating Focus Week for Year 13 and Careers Day for Years 10-13.
? Keep teachers informed of the university application process and the tasks expected of them.
? Support students with their online application process and applications and preparation for universities worldwide.
? Support the clearing and final admissions process for students during the summer.
? Participate in the events and programming for students' & parents' activities or evening events.
? Maintain an accurate and up to date record of admission decisions, statistics, and relevant data.
? Liaise with University Counsellors from across the Dulwich network to improve provision and best practices across the Dulwich group
? Contribute fully to the wider life of the school as well as the co-curricular activity programme.

SIP Dulwich College United School, also known as Dulwich International High School Suzhou (DHSZ) is a selective, English-medium, co-educational four-year high school. Our students are highly motivated and learning focused which makes it a delight to teach them. The majority of our current 550 students are PRC nationals who will pursue their university studies at excellent universities and colleges outside China. To this end, our students opt out of the Chinese education system at the end of junior middle school to follow a curriculum leading to IGCSEs and A Levels.

We are one of a family of schools owned and operated by Dulwich College International (DCI), based in Shanghai. DCI was founded in 2003, with full approval and authority from Dulwich College London and currently owns seven schools in China, Seoul and Singapore. We are an expanding school, currently in our fifth year of operation. We opened in September 2012 in temporary premises within the beautiful grounds of the prestigious Suzhou High School, in the heart of the old town of Suzhou in Jiangsu Province.
