Overview
The Mechanic & Packaging Engineer works in the Advanced Development Engineering with the objective to complete the technology portfolio aiming the strategic plan in Smart Connectivity and Connected Home. He/She will be responsible to build the mechanic engineering team to generate innovative ideas and design the mechanics of connection and packaging for products integrated with electronics hardware and software in high quality. The successful candidate will build and foster an innovative culture and accountable team spirit with entrepreneurship.
Responsibilities
- Understand customer’s needs and innovate the design of structure and package with robust mechanic properties to fulfil the environmental and application requirements from customers.
- Evaluate the design in a systematic way using simulation tools like Ansys for both structural and thermal properties.
- Eliminate manufacturing risks from the beginning of a project (FMEA) on a technology/Material/Process point of view and innovate design to achieve most economic manufacturing proves.
- Ensure that any specific customized project can be run smoothly into Mass Production working together with the production and manufacturing engineering team.
- Work closely with electronics and firmware engineering teams to guarantee the optimized design of the Integrated Products in both performance and manufacturability.
- Guide and train the junior engineers to enhance their capabilities to the world-class level. Build the mechanic engineering team for both advanced development engineering and production engineering.
- Create periodical high quality reports and proposals and discuss specific subjects or presentation in front of an international audience.
- Establish good relationship with suppliers (existing/new) and drive their technology towards the AD Group needs. Extend the supplier pool of new materials and process.
- Acumen to industry standard and technology trend, proactively involve in design-in activities with customers by supplying innovative concept and solutions
- Arrange/host brainstorming with mechanic engineers within TE to gather common experience for challenging projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanic Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering.
- 5+ years’ experience in designing mechanic structure and packaging for full assembled electronic sub-system module or integrated products for electronic or wireless products. The experience with Industrial Design is a plus.
- Hand-on experience in CAD tools such as ProE, Creo, Ansys, AutoCAD, Catia, Space Claim, etc.
- Good knowledge on materials, tooling design, manufacturing technology and process, and production line for assembly and integration.
- Good knowledge on the failure analysis, environmental test and compliance.
- Lean Design for Six Sigma practices is preferred.
- Any knowledge in electronics, EMI/EMC, ESD and antennas is a Plus.

- Willing to learn and a good and fast learner.
