Position Overview:
Duke Kunshan University seeks candidates for the Research Support Assistant position. The Research Assistant position will work for the Research Support Office on the post-award management. The Research Support Office supports the grant activities of the University’s research centers and instructional programs – assisting in the preparation and submission of proposals to external sponsors, management of awards (grants and contracts) received and ensuring that the compliance requirements for research projects are met. The Research Assistant provides administrative and financial management and oversight over the grant monies to ensure their proper use in compliance with policies and regulations of the University, sponsors and governments.

Assistant Director, Research Support Office

Essential Duties:
The job includes a wide variety of daily duties and requires the ability to move from one task to another easily and to meet critical deadlines. Broadly, these duties include:
? Assisting the Assistant Director with award set-up (fund codes) and coordination with the finance office.
? Managing and overseeing under the Assistant Director’s supervision the financial and administrative process of active awards and research fund codes on a regular basis.
? Working with the award close-out team when a sponsored project ends and reports are due.
? Preparing the annual award portfolios and expenditure reports to the sponsors.
? Reviewing the budget and budget justification in the proposals or contracts to ensure their compliance with the policies and regulations of the University and the sponsors.
? Assisting researchers with the preparation and processing of funding application by analyzing and interpreting proposal requirements.

Required Qualifications:
? Undergraduate degree required, graduate degree preferred
? Fluency in Mandarin and English, both spoken and written, and ability to prepare translations
? At least an intermediate skill level with a variety of computer programs, particularly spreadsheets, word processing, and databases
? Demonstrated experience working in a team
