Senior Design Engineer

Position Description:

Reports to the Director of Engineering or Technical Director. Evaluate current process equipment designs and develop superior solutions for improved structural and material efficiency. Assess manufacturing techniques, material joining and bonding technologies and identify opportunities for improvement. Prepare, coordinate and distribute the information and authorizations needed to implement manufacturing improvements. Perform all Discipline Engineering and administrative policies, procedures and functions.

Specific role and responsibilities are not limited to, but currently include: validating the soundness and completeness of global bulk tank structural design; developing and maintaining global bulk tank calculations and standards; developing bulk tank design templates utilizing global best practices and ensuring that regional design codes are applied; assist in product development and optimization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Provide Engineering analysis and design of specialized products using latest tools and techniques.

· Evaluation and design of complete structural systems and indeterminate structures.

· Perform analysis of static and dynamic systems, including cyclical loading conditions and fatigue modeling.

· Apply mathematical and scientific principles to assure safety and reliability of Company product designs.

· Manipulation of materials and forms to achieve functional and aesthetic results that include a high level of manufacturability.

· Work closely with Desingers to develop detailed engineering drawings.

· Interact with other departments for technical support and guidance.

· Review sales orders, specifications, and cost estimates to assure design output fulfills requirements.

· Review all drawings and specifications and ensure they properly relate to the estimate.

· Obtain information and approvals required for the timely processing of design documents.

· Design and modeling skills for process equipment used in industrial and/or consumer products processing plants.

· Prepare design calculations and perform/direct the preparation of drawings and design documents.

· Knowledge of relevant standards as required for design.

· Previous experience with modular construction and skid mounted technology desirable.

· Must be able to work on multiple tasks with little supervision in a fast paced environment.

· Establish and maintain document control procedures.

· Implement approved Request for Changes (RFC) and Manufacturing Change orders (MCO).

· Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as required..

Qualifications:

A Master's degree in mechanical or structural engineering and at least three years of intensive engineering experience required. Extensive knowledge of ASME Section III Div. 1 and Div. 2, GB150, ASCE, and IBC standard and code required. Knowledge of estimating, construction costs, scheduling, purchasing, and engineering principles and techniques, various construction methods and installation procedures; a broad understanding of a wide spectrum of materials, their characteristics and their tolerances and limitations. A basic understanding of contract and subcontract documents, accounting and cost control procedures. Good English oral & written communication skills required. Shows initiative to perform duties beyond assignment-specific duties. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong computer skills, especially Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools such as PVElite, COMPRESS, ANSYS and ABAQUS, ProE, AutoCAD, Inventor or AutoPlant skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite of programs. Knowledge of Microsoft Project desirable.
