Business Overview:
The Intelligent Buildings, IB, business has a dedicated team deployed globally and services the market segments of HVAC, Elevator/Escalators, Lighting, Solar Power and Fire & Security. As today’s buildings become increasingly efficient and connected, TE works to solve connectivity challenges. We link power and data on every floor of the building—from environmental and illumination controls, to safety, people flow, convenience and service equipment—delivering greater control and more comfortable living and working spaces.
Overview:
The Manufacturing Development Engineer (MDE) plays a crucial role in bringing exciting products in the Industrial - Intelligent Buildings (IB) business unit from ideas to reality! The MDE will support the planning, design, build and approval of new tooling to support on-time new product launches for the IB business.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
? Working with global engineering teams to develop manufacturing plans and tooling specifications during the Design and Concept phases of new product development projects. This will include participating in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews, tooling, design decisions as well as vendor and production location selection.
? Participating in tooling design reviews, overseeing tooling construction and conditioning, and executing activities to support the final tooling approvals for new product launches.
? Ensuring the tooling and manufacturing processes meet product quality requirements
? Ensuring the tooling and manufacturing processes meet project yield, output and cost goals
? Over-seeing the transfer of tooling from vendors to TE facilities
? Visiting vendors or TE locations to support the responsibilities listed above
? Occasional support of production issues on existing products as the need arises
Requirements:
? Bachelor degree or above with minimum of 5 years experience in automation design or injection molding.
? Familiarity with typical TE manufacturing processes: injection molding, manual and automated assembly, high-speed stamping
? Excellent spoken and written English communication skills and ability to work with global teams
? Good organization and project management skill
? Knowledge of quality and six-sigma tools (Capability studies, Design of Experiment, PFMEA, etc)
