This is a new role and will be responsible for supporting the growth of the business by strategically targeting new business opportunities. There are two main elements to this role:
1. Development of the business to become a sales focused organisation through innovative use of media and networking. This part of the role will focus on marketing our business strategically to target appropriate clients
2. Actively selling new business opportunities to prospective clients and supporting the Asia Pacific business development through the development and delivery of attractive, bespoke sales propositions. This is a client facing sales role.
Initially there will be a third element to the role which is to support the internal and external media and communications function. This is, and will remain, an existing role. This initial responsibility is to provide maternity cover.
Job Responsibilities:
Build a strong knowledge of Unipart’s operations, capabilities and unique selling points:
Understand the operations we perform for existing clients in China
Build an awareness of Unipart’s brand, company culture and our philosophy of working called The Unipart Way
Build strong Knowledge of Unipart’s history and background, global operations and structure
Build relationships with key operational management in Unipart China to support technical aspects of future propositions but also to gain hands on experience of the operations our business performs
Using the above knowledge assist the development of a mixed, innovative and market applicable business development approach. This will be a constantly changing portfolio that could involve but is not limited to:
Directly approaching suspect clients
Discovery events and tours for prospective clients
Marketing material
Attendance at network events and trade fairs
Intelligent use of social media
Work closely with Media and Communications function to promote the company internally and externally
Any other assignments from line manager
Actively seek target businesses and opportunities in the market. This involves understanding who our potential clients are and finding ways (including but not restricted to the above) to target those businesses
Assist with creating commercial propositions (bids), pitches and information for any potential clients who are interested in our business
Organising diaries, meetings and travel as required
Requirements & Experience:
We are looking for an experienced business development manager with minimum experience of 3 to 5 years in similar roles (B2B sales experience essential). The ideal candidate will have knowledge of, and contacts within, the logistics market in China.
- Requires previous marketing, Public Relations, Design Communications experience
- Requires more than 3 years’ experience in a client facing business development role
- Flexible to travel per business requirement and accept challenges and changes
- Strong written and spoken language skills both in Mandarin and English
- Strong communication skill with a good sense of information management
- Excellent style of writing, be good at typesetting, page art and multimedia production
- Strong willingness to learn and a continuous improvement mind-set
- Pro-active and able to work autonomously
- Good time management and cross functional team work
- Good organisational skills
- Good presentation skills
- Project management experience will be preferred
