Title:Senior Associate Scientist

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide assistance in the development of veterinary vaccines.

DUTIES and PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

DUTIES
Apply technical skills to projects/ assignments – design and write laboratory study protocols

Perform experiments following established procedures with moderate supervision

Develop laboratory-based potency tests

Prepare study reports

Assist in the general laboratory maintenance

Write/revised laboratory based SOPs

Assist in the long term future of the business as required

Provide support for clinical studies

Organize consumables for the lab

MEASURE

Key tasks will be mutually agreed and incorporated into an annual workplan.

Experiments are completed satisfactorily by the agreed timeline. The associate scientist should consult more senior scientists on the experimental plan and the interpretation of results.

 Performance will be reviewed regularly

Tests are developed and validated with more senior staff support as agreed with project team

Study report completed in time and useful for registration submission

Assigned responsibilities form part of the annual workplan

As agreed with manager on the specific SOPs and the timeline

Involvement in the implementation of new systems and/or technology

Help to organize logistics/trial materials to ensure studies start in time and function as study monitors as agreed with project team

Lab has minimal out-of-stock situation

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Attention to details; team player; good organisational skills, team spirits and ability to travel for trials


TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Experiences in cell culture, virology, or immunology and their application to the experiments.

Ability to assist clinical trials

Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (Virology, immunology or other relevant disciplines) or direct experience in vaccine development.

Ability to follow established procedures and instructions
