Currently we have opportunities for one (1) research associates in our Asia Technology Centre (ATC) in Suzhou. The ATC is an integral part of our R&D structure and provides research and experimentation on our and our customers’ products in our laboratories, external research facilities, and customers’ sites. The focus of the ATC is on borate chemistry in the areas of 1) glass and traditional ceramics, 2) metals and advances ceramics, 3) certain chemicals, 4) agriculture fertilizers, and 5) analytical chemistry.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Research Associate to fully support location health, safety and environmental programs by participating in their implementation, maintenance and enforcement as well as compliance with corporate programs.

What the role entails

This role is a great opportunity for a successful individual to focus on China BSG, IFG and TFT glass manufacturers to provide technical service under guidance of technical professionals, design experiments and collect and analyse data contributing to the success of research projects. Working and reporting to the Lab & BD Manager, you will be:

? Preparing, testing, and analysing samples for properties such as chemical composition and physical properties and recording test results and write reports on findings
? Operating and maintaining (calibrate and repair) laboratory instruments and equipment and training others and coordinate activities concerning specialized testing and equipment operation
? Providing support for projects in other areas of the company to gain broader knowledge and be responsible for making recommendations on the feasibility of projects based on findings and experience
? Assisting with publication and/or revision of literature on company products and applications
? Assisting with methods development and statistical design of experiments
? Assisting with new business development on projects in Asia, requiring travel within and outside China

What you will need for this role

To succeed in this role, you will have:
? Master’s degree or above and strong theoretical knowledge in chemistry, materials or engineering
? Technical experience, preferably in a laboratory setting in at least one of the following: 1) inorganic chemistry; or 2) high temperature physical and chemical processing such as sintering, glass forming, smelting; or 3) agriculture chemicals; or 4) analytical chemistry and instrumentation notably ICP, SEM, XRD, and quantitative chemical analysis.
? Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese and Administrative skills to document data and daily work activities
? Ability to work in teams and to collaborate within the group for problem solving and communication of project and safety issues
? Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet applications
? Ability to interpret and communicate results and make recommendations on how to improve methods and procedures
