Job Description

1. Occupational Summary:
Duke Kunshan University seeks an energetic, highly motivated experienced team of recruiters to join our recruitment and admissions team. The qualified individual(s) will be persons with recruiting experience on the ground in China or other parts of the East Asia region. These persons will work closely with the Dean of Enrollment and the Director of Recruitment to launch recruiting initiatives, meet and engage with potential applicants, and forge strong ties with local Chinese and international high schools in support of the launch of our new liberal arts undergraduate degree program which will begin in Fall 2018.

2. Report to:
Associate Director of Undergraduate Student Recruitment for China, Asia and Africa

3. Essential Duties:
- Serving as the University recruiting representatives in various parts of China and other East Asian countries;
- Developing recruiting relationships with prospective students and their parents as well as with high school and community leaders;
- Working with the senior recruitment, admissions, and financial aid leadership teams at the University to ensure that the Duke Kunshan messaging is attracting sufficient attention and that the value proposition of the Duke Kunshan University opportunity is well understood by potential applicants;
- Contribute to the formulation and implementation of the overall University undergraduate recruitment strategy;
- Communicate with interested candidates throughout the recruitment and admissions processes to ensure they are having their inquiries answered and they are kept up-to-date about the status of their respective applications;
- This position requires extensive travel on a regular basis.

4. Qualification:
- Qualified candidates must demonstrate sufficient knowledge and awareness of the unique features of the Chinese university recruiting environment. 3+ years’ experience on the ground in China
would be helpful.
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in written form in both English and Chinese (Mandarin);
- Must have good people skills and be able to engage with a diverse set of communities across the Chinese education landscape;
- Must possess solid problem solving skills and be a creative thinker;
- Must be a good manager of time, schedules, and projects as well as understand and appreciate the importance of punctuality and meeting deadlines;
- Must be a self-starter capable of working in teams as well as individually. Must be willing to travel on a regular basis and work with minimal supervision;
- Must be comfortable and professional in terms of handling confidential information with great discretion;
- Qualified candidates should have an undergraduate degree from a top tier university in China or abroad; a master’s degree is preferred but not a firm requirement.

Duke Kunshan is a world-class liberal arts university based in Kunshan, China, that offers a range of high quality, innovative academic programs for students from around the world. It was established in September 2013 as a U.S.-China partnership between Duke University and Wuhan University.

Duke Kunshan welcomed its first students in August 2014. The university began by offering Duke graduate degrees as well as a Global Learning Semester program for undergraduate students from Duke and top-tier Chinese and international universities.
