In late 2009, GE Aviation and AVIC Systems of China announced an agreement to form a new joint venture to develop and market integrated avionics systems for commercial aircraft customers. Announced in mid 2010, this business will be providing avionics systems for China’s first large commercial aircraft, the COMAC C919. Role Summary/Purpose

The Black Belt leads projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business. In this role you will be responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, manage complex issues within functional areas, and contribute to the overall business strategy

Essential Responsibilities

- Facilitate and support JV consistent processes development cross functions to meet AS900 requirement - Drive JV Lean culture building - Develop mechanism for JV continuous process improvement for productivity and compliance - Partner with leaders to define and execute business “Y” strategy - Leverage resources in executing the Lean Six Sigma strategy for breakthrough levels of improvement in customer satisfaction, process capability and quality - Work with quality champion(s) and other operating leaders to develop project deployment strategy, goals and priorities - Serve as change agent by stimulating, communicating and institutionalizing Lean Six Sigma initiatives - Lead 6 Sigma/Lean trainings to JV employees. Following completion of a rigorous training program, serve as an expert resource to the business on Lean Six Sigma philosophy, theory, and application tools/tactics - Improve customer satisfaction and reduce process variation through application of Lean Six Sigma tools and tactics - Develop strategy and deploy Lean Six Sigma tools and tactics - Communicate progress, status and issues to Champions and business leaders - Educate and coach others on Lean Six Sigma philosophy and application - Seek, share and institutionalize best practices

Qualifications/Requirements

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college - At least 5 additional years of experience in Quality System Planning and Quality Improvement methods

Desired Characteristics

- Additional leadership experience in the areas of Operations, Manufacturing, or Quality is preferred - Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification is preferred - Executive level presentation skills- Responsible for meeting customer/business needs as well as developing direct reports - Strong oral and written communication skills- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
