PURPOSE OF THE JOB

I ensure I contribute to positioning the IKEA store as the first choice for home furnishings in my primary market area (PMA) in order to maximise sales and long-term profitability. I am responsible for ensuring the graphic communication inside and outside the IKEA store is in line with the IKEA identity. I also visualise the uniqueness of IKEA to distance us from the competition. I use my deep knowledge of people’s life at home in my local market and consumer buying behaviour to create and implement graphic communication that:
? communicates the IKEA Concept, our Swedish roots and unique services
? strengthens the IKEA mechanical sales system, which enables customers to buy more easily
? supports sales steering to commercial priorities.
I secure high quality, simplicity and cost consciousness in the execution of my work by using global tools and best practises.

ASSIGNMENT

• I have a deep knowledge and understanding of people’s needs and wants, their living situations and living conditions in my local market, as well as their buying behaviour. I use this knowledge and my competence to plan, create and implement our graphic communication inside and outside the store.
• I work with the Customer Relations manager to plan and implement customer guidance and "how to shop" communication that helps visitors to easily orientate themselves within our store.
• taking ownership for how we are communicating the range, and working with the Com&In team to offer relevant, functional, aesthetic and sustainable home furnishing solutions for the people living in my local market.
• using my knowledge of the IKEA Concept, key strategic messages and the IKEA copy and visual identity to plan, create and implement graphic solutions that support the commercial priorities and facilitates the mechanical sales system.
• I take an active part in the recruitment process of Com&In co-workers. I search for a combination of IKEA values and specialist competence. I take into account the unique requirement of the Com&In team to combine practical, aesthetic and commercial skills.
• I inspire and challenge my Com&In colleagues to constantly increase their knowledge of people’s life at home and develop their home furnishing competence.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Extensive experience of working as a graphic designer. Higher education qualification in graphic communication design, media and typography
• A passion and curiosity for, and understanding of, people’s life at home
• A passion for graphic communication, design, home furnishing and retailing
• Extensive experience of working in a graphic communications team within IKEA, an advertising agency or retail design studio
