DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job Description
Component Engineer
* Offer support to customers, to the Operations department and to the Supply Chain department on technical issues related to components, taking in consideration the technical specifications so that the components correspond from functional point of view, as shape, as matching, as dimensions and they are ready to enter the supply process
and consequently, the production process;
* Identify and recommend alternative options for components and suppliers to provide cost reduction, reliability & quality improvement and manage commodities in identifying opportunities to source with Flex PSL.
* Support the projects of internal processes improvement and qualify the new components according to defined processes;
* Make AML analysis in order to identify the situations that might jeopardize the acquisition/receiving of components; maintain communication with the customer and SCM in order to avoid such incidents;
* Efficiently validate AML. Analyzes, checks, follows and maintains AML. Ensures 100% accuracy of the technical data and ensures that they are as in the description provided by the customer and they are compliant with the requirements of the production for packaging type. Searches for/evaluates technical descriptions of components;
* Ensure distribution of Notifications of changes of processes/products, that come from component producers;
* Ensure that the transfer of components from a project/customer to another, in order to cover a deficit situation, is done according to the rules pre–established and according to the requirements/approval of
the customer.
* Ability to perform audit and qualify supplier
* Provides technical backup for alternate sourcing recommendations, such as identifying relevant specification differences and board design changes required, and providing the interface with the supplier’s
design team.
* Apply written specifications, performance requirements and quality inspection criteria.
* Provides technical support to Flextronics Design Centers and different market segments as needed to resolve manufacturing problems of moderate scope related to component performance, component handling requirement & process, or internal/customer issues.
