Novo Nordisk wants to conduct diabetes research activities in China and expand its network to the scientific community. For these purposes, a new position is open for an experienced and motivated research scientist with expertise in quantitative LC/MS bioanalysis who plans to advance a career in China.

Department of Diabetes Cell Biology is part of Novo Nordisk China R&D centre as an integrated part of Novo Nordisk's R&D organization and located in Beijing. The department is responsible for support of diabetes and obesity research projects in the discovery phase. Currently, the department consists of 4 scientists, 4 research associates and a department manager. We are a highly motivated and productive team with high standards for our deliveries into the projects and an increasing focus on flexible processes in our daily work. We work with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment and value a high team spirit, good communication and dynamic collaboration between both scientists and research associates. Challenges
You will be involved in cross-functional project teams with colleagues from many different scientific backgrounds both in China and at our head quarters in Denmark. You will contribute to several early stage projects with expertise within quantitative LC/MS bioanalysis of peptide drug candidates.

• You will be responsible for the establishment of quantitative LC/MS bioanalysis in the department. The group will comprise you and one research associate.
• You will be responsible for quantitative and qualitative bioanalysis of samples generated in the research center, it will be your responsibility to ensure timely and high quality results
• You will use advanced LC/MS instrumentation to perform the quantitative bioanalysis and identification of possible metabolites
• You will represent the department in cross-functional project teams and as such, cooperation and coordination with your colleagues in other parts of the organisation, including the Diabetes Research Unit in Denmark, is a very important part of the job.

You will be referring directly to the department manager and your main internal contacts will be scientist colleagues, research associates and project members and managers both in Beijing and in Denmark. Furthermore, developing and maintaining a strong external network is also going to be an important part of your work.
You will be part of a team in a highly dynamic and challenging environment within the Diabetes Research Unit.

Qualifications
• You hold a PhD degree in a scientific area related to LC/MS bioanalysis.
• You have an excellent track record of original research.
• You have solid knowledge in and hands-on experience with both quantitative and qualitative LC/MS analysis methodologies.
• A strong background in MS analysis of peptide molecules in biological samples is a great advantage but not a requirement.
• It is an advantage that you have experience with LC/MS based drug metabolism studies including in vitro metabolism studies.
• Experience from the pharmacy industry is a clear advantage.
• You are result oriented and responsible and you have the drive to ensure a constant flow of input and results to the projects.
• Your thoroughness and curiosity makes you a highly skilled analysis specialist.
• You are flexible, open to new ideas, ambitious, innovative and have a good sense of humour.
• You have authority and thrive in an environment with individual responsibility and a high degree of personal impact in the projects but at the same time you are good at collaborating in teams.
• You are good at communicating, able to meet deadlines and keep an overview.
• You are fluent in English.

Title and compensation will be commensurate with the applicant's qualifications and based on benchmark in China.
