Novo Nordisk wants to conduct diabetes research activities in China and expand its network to the scientific community. For these purposes, a new position is open for a highly qualified and motivated senior or principal scientist with expertise within diabetes and obesity large animal pharmacology who plans to advance a career in China.

Department of Diabetes Pharmacology and Animal facility is part of Novo Nordisk China R&D centre as an integrated part of Novo Nordisk's R&D organization and located in Beijing. The department is responsible for support of diabetes and obesity research projects in the discovery phase. Currently, the department consist of 4 scientists, 5 research associates, 1 veterinarian and 7 animal caretakers. We are a highly motivated and productive team with high standards for our deliveries into the projects. We work with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment and value a high team spirit, good communication and dynamic collaboration between both scientists, technicians and external colleagues. Challenges
You will be involved in cross-functional project teams with colleagues from many different scientific backgrounds both in China and at our head quarters in Denmark. You will be a key person in some of our research projects and responsible for defining and performing large animal in vivo evaluations, both within standard set-ups and on a more exploratory basis, based on needs in each research project.
Thus, the main goal for the position is to be involved in both designing and executing large animal in vivo experiments, primarily focusing on dogs, both as part of screening plans and as more explorative studies. Since in vivo pharmacology is a growing area within our department, you will be involved in expanding our facilities and the types of techniques and models used. Especially, you will be involved in setting up our large animal in vivo pharmacology. Furthermore, keeping up-to-date on diabetes and obesity research is going to be an important task, both in relation to evaluating new project opportunities as well as knowing what is going on in the scientific community.

You will be referring directly to the department manager and your main internal contacts in your daily work will be scientist colleagues, technicians and project members and managers both in Beijing and in Denmark. Furthermore, developing and maintaining a strong external network is also going to be an important part of your work.
You will be part of a team in a highly dynamic and challenging environment within the Diabetes Research Unit.

Qualifications
• You hold a PhD degree within experimental animal science, in vivo pharmacology, veterinary medicine, medicine or other relevant area.
• You have an excellent scientific background with proved expertise of large animal in vivo pharmacological research within diabetes and/or obesity biology. Preferably you have solid experience working with dogs.
• You have high standards for animal ethics and quality of your results based on in vivo studies
• Experience from the pharmaceutical industry will be considered an advantage.
• You are flexible, open to new ideas, ambitious, innovative, result oriented and have a good sense of humour.
• You have authority and thrive in a milieu where you have a lot of individual responsibility with a high degree of personal impact in the projects but at the same time you are good at collaborating in teams and mentoring colleagues.
• You are good at communicating and are able to meet deadlines and keep overview.
• You are fluent in English.

Title and compensation will be commensurate with the applicant's qualifications and based on benchmark in China.
