Novo Nordisk is a focused healthcare company and a world leader in diabetes care. Novo Nordisk China R&D (NNRCC) is an integrated part of Novo Nordisk R&D organization. Novo Nordisk wants to conduct pharmaceutical research activities in China and expand its network to the scientific community. For these purposes, a position is open for a highly qualified and motivated candidate who plans to advance a career in China.


The department is responsible for the delivery of medium to large scale research grade proteins and peptides as well as the development of robust USP and DSP processes to CMC. Currently, the department consist of 6 scientists, 12 research associates/assistants. We are a highly motivated and productive team with high standards for our deliveries into the projects. We work with state-of-the-art facilities and equipments and value a high team spirit, innovation and dynamic collaboration. Established in the beginning of 2011, the department is expected to grow significantly over the next years.

The position has direct line to President of NNRCC and will be a member of NNRCC Common management team.

Challenges
- As head of MP, take overall responsibility for the department’s product quality and productivity
- Drive the department’s engagement and efforts in developing, implementing, and constantly updating relevant new technology required to NN R&D projects with state-of-the art tools in process development and pilot production
- Network scientifically with the stakeholders within BRU/DRU focus area and ensure through coordinating cross-functional stakeholders in BRU, DRU, and CMC.
- Be active in promoting cross DRU, BRU, CMC activities/exchanges at NNRCC, whenever opportunities for synergies can be identified.
- Take responsibility of occupational Health and Safety in Mini-pilot

Qualifications

- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering or relevant sciences
- Knowledge within USP, DSP and protein drug development programs
- 5+ years post doctorate hands-on experience with process development and scale up of proteins and peptides, especially proteins from E.coli
- Excellent track records in either USP or DSP of protein production in a pilot facility or equivalent, preferable in industry.
- Familiar with current advancement and trend in process development, and pilot-scale technology
- Project and people management experience
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills in building consensus cross-functionally
- Cross-functional network within R&D (especially BRU, DRU, and CMC)
