Milling Process Engineer

Responsibilities:

1. Consolidate current plant milling capability and drive the high-energy milling investment across NIPSEA group         

1.1 Study the status of current milling machines in all China plants and consolidate to each segments in terms of their end product requirements                                            

1.2 Work with operation team and product technology team to launch high-energy milling machines particularly for Auto                                                

1.3 Work as a key contributor with operation team on plant process design, schedule, safety and quality                     

1.4 Understand group milling technology landscape and make prioritized improvement proposals                              

1.5 Carry out demanding programs in order to generate milling process technology improvements of significant business impact                                             

2. Develop milling pilot resources at R&D site, build the functioning capabilities needed to drive productive, consistent, efficient and safe operation of plants                                   

2.1 Design and build R&D pilot milling facility in terms of dispersion requirements for each business segments            

2.2 Scale up dispersion milling process from lab equipment to plant machines in pilot workshop                                 

2.3 Propose, document and implement milling standard best practices, and participate in plant milling process design in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner                          

2.4 Work closely with R&D team, operation team, QC team on quality test protocols to ensure batch to batch consistency                                            

3. Upgrade and develop new milling process to drive key dispersion projects                  

3.1 Develop and lead the implementation of milling process solutions to the most challenging technical projects. Assist and resource milling process troubleshooting and root cause analysis

3.2 Drive high-chroma dispersion projects through advanced milling process implementation

3.3 Support on the dispersion line upgrade through milling process optimization            

4. Establish global network of milling equipment and milling process, and build up Nippon image in this field             

4.1 Interact / network with internal and external organizations in their areas of expertise for milling technology            

4.2 Study the milling technology and proactively catch the industry trend                       

4.3 Participate in industry associations and build up company image                              

5. QHSE                                           

             

Requirements:

1. MS or Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering                                     
2. More than three years' experience with paint chemistry and manufacturing technology, preferrably in milling technology or milling process                                       
3. Sophisticated knowledge on paint manufacturing process, pigment dispersion milling process, particle science and technology. Knowledge and use of designed experimentation and statistical data analysis.                                 
4. Multinational company background. Ability to lead projects independently and good sense on project/time management. A good team player.                                      
5. Fluent English and Chinese communication skill
