Description
- Analyze complex customer requirements and propose technical and
competence developments solutions in unprecedented areas and
domains, in close cooperation with local account teams, which is required
to meet customers' business objectives.
- Pro-actively engage with customers to influence customer staff at various
levels to turn the decision in favour of the technical solution that Ericsson
is proposing.
- Specify and design technical solutions in co-operation with the customers
that lead to further development and improvement of customer
organisations and processes.
- Capture and drive development of services and solutions based on market
needs, leveraging own and cross competence domains. Feed back
market insights on customer needs, market development and competitive
situation to Regions and applicable Business Units for developing the
offerings and value propositions.
- Select or propose 3rd party suppliers/products for the proposed solutions.
Work with and manage customised solutions and products, including new
and 3rd party products.
- Develop new methods, guidelines and way-of-working in Customer
Solutions or internally.
- Establish and maintain contacts with key decision makers in the customer
organisation on high level (CEO, CTO and/or CFO) in order to contribute
to higher sales volumes.
- Identify and drive business opportunities during the entire process and
actively contribute to increased sales volumes.
- Coach teams of less experienced Solution Architect or Service Engineers
in Customer Projects to ensure that they are delivered according to
expectations and plans.
- In close collaboration with the Customer Units and Account Teams,
proactively drive customer dialogue on long-, medium-, and short-term
topics to establish trust, build business partnership, and generate and
qualify new leads.
- Support scoping and planning of customer specific projects in
collaboration with Customer Units, Account Teams, and Operations, as
appropriate.
- Contribute actively to a culture & way of working characterized by
proactive attitude, teamwork focus, strong performance ethics, high
professionalism and high energy, lead by example.
- Contribute actively to best practice sharing and knowledge management
in Ericsson's global Utilities Industry Community.
- Significantly contribute to the global building of solution related assets,
including development and re-use of offerings, processes, methods and
tools, and best practice sharing.
- Establish Ericsson as influencer in relevant regional and global industry
forums.
- Engage in and support internally within Ericsson in relevant
standardization work.
- Monitor market needs, trends, standardization, regulatory, the business
landscape, player and competitors.
- Supporting setting up customer agreements especially when it comes to
defining and describing Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key
Performance Indicators (KPIs) relevant for the offered solution/service.
Qualifications
1 Education
- Master's degree in engineering (IT or Telecom) or the equivalent
theoretical background acquired through experience and/or in any other
way
2 Competence and Experience
2.1 Industry experience
- At least 9 years of relevant experience, of which approximately 7 years in
the area of Solution Architect and System design of utilities industry ICT
solutions
- Experience from working with mission-critical industry communication
networks in other industries is also relevant
- Proven track-record as system architect for SCADA and Smart Grid
projects (for example such as distribution network and sub-station
automation, condition-based asset operations & management, distributed
generation management, demand side management or similar)
- Experience with Smart Metering, Demand Side Management, Revenue
Management / Revenue Assurance, electric vehicle charging or similar
projects is an advantage
- Smart Grid experience can come from either commercial or research /
demonstration projects
- Experience of delivering complex System Integration projects in the
Smart Grid area in a technical lead role
- Experience from answering tenders from utilities industry customers
(RFQs, RFIs)
- Proven experience from translating utilities business needs into
requirements on ICT solutions and operations2.2 Technical Skills
- Insight into electricity networks in general, and specifically distribution
networks topologies in different markets
- Generic SCADA and SCADA communication competence with focus on
relevant protocols and interfaces (IEC 61850, IEC 60870-x, DNP, etc.)
- Good generic knowledge about Smart Grid applications (such as
distribution network and sub-station automation, condition-based asset
operations & management, distributed generation management, demand
side management) making use of and interacting with the Smart Grid
communication networks
- Knowledge about the requirements related to; WAPS, WAMS, FACTS,
SAIFI, MAIFI, CAIDI and similar
- Excellent knowledge of communication requirements and trends related to
different components of the Smart Grid (RTUs, IEDs, Tele-protection,
DER/DSM, Smart Metering, EV charging etc.) with a focus on the
availability, latency, bandwidth
- Competence across different communication technologies such as
copper, wireless, RF,,optical, Ethernet, PLC, satellite and cellular
including commonly used legacy systems and technologies, implemented
either as private or public service networks
- Proven track record in the design of mission critical ICT networks
spanning from LAN and Metro to nationwide networks
- Familiar with communication technologies such as; TDM, WDM, xWDM,
SDH/SONET, PDH, ATM,QoS, VPN, VLAN, ,L2, L3, STP, RSTP, EAP,
TTLS,PKI, CA, RADIUS, IP/MPLS, pseudo-wire, SNMP
- Good general knowledge about Network Management solutions for multi
vendor and multi-technologies communication networks
- Good generic knowledge about the applicable national and international
standards and requirements related to utilities communications
- Experience in transforming/migration of communication networks to new
technologies, with focus on migrating to IP (Packet-Switched) from TDM
networks
- Good generic knowledge of cellular data-communication (2G, 3G, 4G) is
an advantage
- Compliance and acceptance testing
- Professional certifications such as CSSP, CCSP, CCVP, CWNA, and/or
CCNA are an advantage
2.3 Consultative Sales Experience
- Strong track record in engaging with C-level at customers.
- Expert in listening, scoping & translating customer issue into business
opportunities. Familiar with multiple engagement models.
- Creative in terms of ability to see and make things in a new or different
way, capability of developing inspiration, innovation or insight.
- Strong influencing skills. Strong presenter. Structured communicator.
2.4 Leadership skills

- Past experience in team lead role
- Stakeholder management experience
3 Personal Trades
The job requires willingness and possibilities for frequent travel and participation
in local delivery of customer specific projects globally.
The candidate should be fluent in English. A second major language is an
advantage.
