Position: Merchandiser
Location: ITC Shanghai Buying Office
Reports to: Holland Sales Manager
Working hours: Fulltime 40 hrs per week
Education: College degree or above
Work experience: Min. 2 years in specific specialty product industry

Purpose of the position

Within the specific specialist product group:

1. Focus on managing product development, product sourcing, fabric, yarn, and supplier sourcing. Strong focus on controlling buying prices.
1.2. Ensure that ITC is producing the right products in the right factory (according to needs and conditions of our customers), to get developments correct and on time to maximize the commercial value
1.3. Help and support US, and Europe based sales team / buying team to decrease buying price, and maximize margins, to increase overall business of your product group to achieve ITC revenue goals
1.4. Being the specialist (technical, quality & pricing) within the target product group.

Key responsibilities & Duties

1. Products Development

1.1 Work together with design team for ITC collection and customers’ developments.
1.2 Evaluate the design of developments & products, make sure each development is in the right factory .
1.3 Supervise ITC’ products develop status and follow up running developments.
1.4 Ensure all suppliers understand ITC products development procedure and expectations.
1.5 Ensure ITC developments and products will be developed correctly, timely and economically.

2. Supplier sourcing & Product sourcing

2.1 Must have a clear understanding of ITC’s sourcing strategy, continually source new suppliers to meet company’s strategy and company’s revenue goal .
2.2 Help and support S&D manager to improve the quality of company’s supplier base.
2.3 Build and maintain positive relationship with suppliers.
2.4 Needs to have a strong sense on fashion market, be keyed in on trend products in the textile business.
2.5 Constantly visiting factories, sourcing new fabric, and yarn, gather input on the latest and trends and samples for ITC sales offices

3. Buying price control

3.1 Analyze and evaluate buying prices
3.2 Understand and analyze costs of fabrics, and costs of CMT
3.3 When a development is ready, your role is to set prices, control prices, and make sure price is at the correct level to balance quality, and targets of our customer
3.4 Help and support buying team to negotiate with suppliers for a low / good price



Required skills

1. Technical skills

1.1 Specialist needs excellent technical knowledge and strong background on the specific specialist product group.
1.2 Must have a strong understanding of various fabrics, trimmings, pricing and product compliancy.
1.3 Can calculate price and make open market cost analysis independently.

2. Business skills

2.1 Excellent communication skills to resolve challenges associated with sourcing and products development
2.2 Strong negotiation skill with suppliers
2.3 Marketing knowledge and understanding of trend driven fashion markets at retail and wholesale
2.4 Good command of written and spoken English and Mandarin
2.5 Experience working with western customer’s and demands
