Title: Strategy Director or Associate Strategy Director


Reporting Structure

1. Report to Managing Partner, Strategy of OMD China OR to the National Strategy Director of OMD China’s Strategy & Innovation team for the Associate Strategy Director role.
2. Will have communications planners/strategists report directly into him/her. These will be assigned to specific client tasks.
3. Must work in close partnership with the Insights and Creative teams, and agency’s strategic business units (SBUs).


Base of Operation

? Located at OMD China’s headquarter in Shanghai or subsidiary office in Guangzhou
? If based in SH, responsibility covers OMD Shanghai, OMD Beijing and OMD Guangzhou.
? If based in GZ, responsibility covers mainly GZ. Cross office collaboration required.


Scope of Assignment

The Strategy & Innovation team is the strategy and creative leaders for OMD China.

Tasked with building a recognised market-leading position in strategic-thinking and creativity to drive OMD’s reputation as the smartest (thought leadership), most innovative and effective (results driven) business partner for clients who want and are actively seeking for a media centric communications expert in the market.

Strategy & Innovation team’s primary responsibility is to nurture talents and develop clear visions in business, branding and communications strategies for the agency’s clients and produce high level of creative ideas to achieve desired outcomes.

This will require the adoption, application and evolution of OMD Worldwide’s thought development process and system – VISION and defining the appropriate measurement benchmarks and agency’s success criteria.

The senior candidate will be responsible for driving and delivering this ambition for OMD China. You will also play a key role in the development of new businesses and the strategic, insights and data offerings to clients as well as having an influence in the broader agency’s operational issues.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality control all significant products
- Develop appropriate sign-off system for all clients and projects involved, ensuring our work achieved highest level of strategic and innovative thinking and are worthy for awards recognitions.
- Direct involvement in key agency clients, as required. Proactively drive strategies and/or coach the account teams.
- Integrate and lead SBUs within the overall OMD’s planning process to deliver world class integrated solutions.
- Build and increase agency’s award winning case studies and source competitive learnings to excite and encourage.
- Sense check and continually evolve systems to ensure seamless strategy-to-execution of ideas.

2. Business development
- Lead teams’ integration and develop strategic direction for key business pitches.
- Develop new (organic) revenue streams through consultancy projects.

3. Creation of the most strategic and innovative community for the agency and its clients
- Creation of inspiring and rewarding operating culture through clear setting of expectations and objectives.
- Adoption of VISION and its local evolution.
- Application of all agency tools and expertise on a continuous basis.
- Training and development of in-house strategists and media planners to enhance OMD’s planning and implementation outcomes
- Development of proprietary strategy and ideation workshops.
- Identify new talents as required.

4. Development of ‘Inspiration’ resources
- Co-drive OMD’s global creative initiative - LIGHT that promotes creative culture.
- Build a library of all worldwide case studies and future work to inspire all levels.
- Manage all ‘appropriate’ award submissions to strengthen agency’s reputation.
- Develop proprietary strategic resources and insights (research) as well as adopting global/regional creations.
- Lead and develop key supplier relationships in this area, as required.

5. Industry leadership and management
- Identify and develop relationships with key OMD Worldwide and regional teams
- Build relationship with senior and relevant strategic industry leaders
? Planning Directors at creative partners.
? Strategic Media groups
- Apply strategic resource to creative partners/clients (selected) as a mean of entry for new clients development.
