DSM Coating Resins (DCR) is the largest Business Unit (BU) within the Business Group (BG) DSM Resins
in the performance materials cluster of DSM. DCR is a global player in the development, production and
sales of high quality resins for the coatings industry with a focus on using innovative, sustainable,
environmentally friendly technologies. DCR is headquartered in The Netherlands, employs around 1,300
people and operates from 15 locations across the world. Within DCR, the Powder, Can & Coil (PCC)
business segment represents.
Position description
For our Radical Innovation Platform in the Powder, Can & Coil (PCC) business segment of DSM Coating
Resins*, we are looking for a:New Business Development Manager
Within Radical Innovation of PCC we are developing a new business and product portfolio for new
applications related to heat sensitive substrates (wood, plastics, composite materials and others). These
are related to developments done by DSM which are now being introduced in the market.
The primary goal of this position is to develop, implement and realize the (new) business development
strategy and project plans for the heat sensitive substrates portfolio for Asia Pacific, aligned with
functional guidelines and existing strategies on BG/BU level and strategies developed by other
disciplines.
The position is based in Shanghai.
Key Responsibilities:
· Responsible for top line/margin growth in your innovation portfolio.
· Define the (new) business development plan, based on information of marketing and industry
managers, direct market interface, and the sales force, and implement it.
· Build an effective network with coating formulators, applicators, and end users to understand
where the impinging road blocks are and develop solutions to overcome these roadblocks: -
Identify market areas for the growth of powder coating resins and be capable of providing
thorough feedback from the market to R&D on the performance needs of the market. -
Understand and develop value propositions of PCC and be capable of positively influencing
decision makers on the value of powder coating versus other coating technologies, looking at the
complete value chain.
· Monitor competitive and customer technical developments, new applications and new products
and report to the relevant internal stakeholders.
· Create a culture of collaboration with speed and partnerships & open innovation inside and
especially also outside DSM with leading innovative companies.
· Manage the execution of innovation projects in the pipeline (idea generation & evaluation, R&D
feasibility, development and scale-up, commercialization), using DSM’s project management
methodology, in order to transfer them to running business within planning, budget and agreed
specifications.
· Continue to keep all internal stakeholders (business industry management, marketing,
application development, and sales) informed in order to ensure optimal overall business
performance to the customers.

Background & Experience
We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:
· Bachelor or Master degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Chemistry

· 10+ years working experience, of which 5 years of relevant work experience in comparable
positions
· Strong experience in Materials industry, preferably, (powder) coating (resins) industry
· Preferably, a strong network in the coating or furniture industry
· Strong business acumen and result orientation
· Creative and external orientation
· Passion to identify customer needs and translate them into action
· Track-record in project management
· Excellent in stakeholder management
· Excellent communication and influencing skills
· Experience in working in an international, complex matrix organization
· Team player who seeks constructive win-win situations with stakeholders
· Fluent in English
· Able and willing to travel (international)
