Position Description:

This role provides technical support, infrastructure design, implementation, and administration of General Mills global business applications. Primary responsibilities will be to provide strong technical skills in a global application support team to administer, troubleshoot, address application performance issues, and be a consultant between General Mills and outside vendors. This position will provide a great opportunity to work on leading edge technologies like Windows Server 2008/2012, IIS 7.5/8, Linux, WebLogic, Tomcat, Java, VMWare, F5 BigIP load balancers, SQL, Oracle, and ASP.Net.



Application Hosting Support

· Design, installation, and support of third party and open source software applications.

· Provide planning, design, installation, maintenance, and administration of server infrastructure.

· Assist in troubleshooting of issues by providing diagnostics across the environment through knowledge of: DNS, firewalls, load balancers, application and web servers, network security, Active Directory, and database connectivity.

· Troubleshoot using tools such as MS SCOM, Wireshark, and various debugging tools.

· Manage projects aimed at improving the team's internal processes and actively participate in external project consultations.

· Ensure General Mills infrastructure standards are implemented in a timely manner.

· Lead process improvement initiatives as part of overall Continuous Improvement.



Required Qualifications:

· Experience working effectively on a global support team; comfortable working with people from other cultures. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Bachelor’s degree in CIS (Computer Information Systems), Computer Engineering, Computer Science, MIS (Management Information Systems).

· At least 5 years of related work experience in application and infrastructure administration supporting a larger business in a Windows 2008/2012 or Linux environment – experience in web or application hosting and VMware

· Knowledge of database configuration and maintenance.



Preferred Experience:

· Understanding of firewalls, DNS, TCP/IP, and load balancers (F5 preferred).

· Development languages and automation scripting: .Net development (VB.Net and ASP.Net), Powershell, VBScript/Jscript, Ansible.

· Ability to draw up network diagrams and communicate recommendations to upper mgmt.
