OVERVIEW:
This position will be responsible for process development, scale-up of new formulas and transfer of technology to ensure product launches meet expectations in the areas of quality, cost, and timing. Manufacturing processes included in this role include bulk compounding, filling, labeling and light assembly for personal care products. Additional areas of responsibility include continuous improvement of processes and formulas to deliver cost savings, improved quality and lead times reductions. This position interfaces internally with Product Development, Operations, Research & Development, and Quality. Manufacturing Engineers at Mast Global interface with Contract Manufacturers to ensure they have the staff, equipment and processes in place for successful product launches and ongoing replenishment production.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support development and scale-up of personal care manufacturing
- Organize and conduct Pilot & Line Trial production to ensure smooth transition from development to manufacturing
- Initiate research and implement continuous improvement projects to reduce costs, lead times, and quality issues
- Attend and provide input to cross-functional Commercialization Meetings
- Provide technical input into new supplier selection
- Develop and execute manufacturing and alternate sourcing strategies
- Initiate and manage technology transfer to new suppliers
- Maintain thorough project knowledge and information exchange throughout the development process; Track projects and timelines
- Contribute information and expertise as required to assure consistent and accurate execution of internal formula control system
- Serve as a resource to suppliers for technical troubleshooting and process improvements
- Support supplier evaluation and continuous improvement through feedback on critical measurement parameters


QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S or above in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related Engineering discipline
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the personal care or related industry, including scale-up and production in a manufacturing plant.
- Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of raw materials and their purpose in formulations and their impact to process efficiencies and stability.
- Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of packaging components and their impact to production and filling efficiencies.
- Must demonstrate problem solving capability and the ability to work through large amounts of data to generate conclusions and develop action plans
- Knowledge of PC database programs and functionality
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate clearly/concisely through oral and written methods
- Ability to travel 30+% of the time
