Description
General Purpose of Position:
Drive and deliver manufacturing excellence, through the implementation of common processes, lean manufacturing principles and use of best practices. Establish benchmarks for all maintenance metrics and recommend, support and drive methods and processes for gap closure to benchmark.
Objective:
?Safety – drive safety awareness in plants, review recent incidents from other GM facilities, share best practices
?Throughput – identify shop constraints, work with plant to develop methods to elevate and exploit constraints to optimize manufacturing footprint and regional capacity
?Inventory (Capital efficiency) - interface with Manufacturing Engineering & plants to ensure lean maintenance spares inventory, reduce capital investment where possible
?Operating expense – Focus on manufacturing CPU reduction (by cost council category) with key focus on 5000 account
?Productivity – participate in MMC Maintenance working team to identify strategies to reduce maintenance HPU, develop internal & external benchmarks by plant & track plants progress to benchmarks.
Method & Responsibilities:
?Frequent travel to all Vehicle & Powertrain plants across the GMIO region (about 2-3 weeks per month)
?Identify - utilize data to prioritize work, and identify opportunities for improvement
?Close the gap – set and maintain benchmarks for manufacturing metrics, and work with plant on PDCA for gap closure
?People Development - coaching, mentoring and developing our in-plant staff to be self-sufficient
?Flawless Launch (new model and greenfields) - drive GLP discipline, support Area Managers in delivering MasterDot deliverables, and provide specific support wherever necessary to achieve flawless launch
?GMS BIQ Migration - drive deployment, understanding and execution of GMS culture and statements within plant maintenance departments.
?Support other Shop Directors and improvement initiatives from Global Manufacturing Managers Council.
?Participate on the Global Predictive Council
?Support the Total Asset Management process through common maintenance practices and CMMS implementation
?Provide feedback to improve ME centers deliverables (equipment design, documentation, process tools)
?Co-ordinate and drive sharing of best practise, serve as BPPv2 process functional lead, MSLT BPD team member, and 5000 cost council champion
Qualifications
Skills & Behaviors:

?Strong Manufacturing Functional/Technical Skills
?Thorough understanding of lean manufacturing principles and how to execute
?Knowledge of entire manufacturing process, ability to evaluate production systems, utilizing constraints theory
?Driven for Results
?Organizational agility & Cross-cultural sensitivity
?Communications Skills – oral and written, ability to make frequent presentations to senior leaders and international personal
Experience:
?Significant Manufacturing operations experience
?Proven track record as Area Manager or Assistant Plant Manager
?Experience at various global sites and locations as well as various disciplines
Education:
Bachelor / Master of Engineering or MBA
