Role Purpose
The Email Developer is responsible for coding, set-up and deployment of HTML and TEXT email content within the ExactTarget platform, as well as various other email platforms used by Merkle.


Key Responsibilities
1. Manipulating and coding email assets, typically from layered artwork files, into HTML
2. Render test and analyze Merkle coded, as well as 3rd party provided, HTML to ensure proper rendering across ISPs and platforms; edit HTML as necessary
3. Upload content, create proofing lists and set up email campaigns within the email platform
4. Code dynamic content and map variables within the campaign set up to drive versioning and customization of the emails
5. Perform QA on own work as well as conducting peer review of campaign set up and coding to ensure accuracy
6. Change rounds
7. Working with campaign manager/account managers in coordinating and communicating content change requests and production schedule
8. Meeting deadlines for content publication
9. Serving as expert on email best practices and educating others

Key Skills and Experience

1. Technical degree from a 4 year university or a technical school
2. Strong technical skills including expertise in HTML, Adobe Suite
3. Understanding of Web development tools / technologies such as Flash, CSS, Photoshop
