Position Title:Casting Expert

Reporting to:General Manager Manufacturing Engineering WECC

Education:

BsC in Metallurgy or Mechanical engineering

? Sound practical experience in foundry shops with ferrous castings (grey cast iron, nodular iron and cast steel) and non-ferrous castings (in particular bronze) especially for heavy castings

? Communication skills in Chinese and English in a global environment

? Is used to work structured way and proactively makes things happen.

? Able to explain technical issues in a educative and supportive way in Asian environment

? Able to perform and interpret casting simulations

Professional background:

? Experience in castings, Quality Control and Assurance of cast parts (preferably of engine components)

? Familiar with Engineering Codes and technical Specifications (e.g. Technical Rules of Shipping Classification Societies, EN- and ISO Standards)

? Familiar with Engineering drawings Indicate required educational background for the position. e.g. University/ MSc (Eng.)

Accountabilities:

To recognise and solve casting and design related issues by professionally interacting with the costumer (licensees/own factories) and manufacturers, forming a close working relationship based on mutual respect and trust.

To verify and enforce all WCH technical requirements for cast components based on the applicable technical specifications and instructions incl. casting simulations.

To deliver experience and know-how, educate and support licensees and their sub-suppliers to achieve a direct long term impact on a high-quality and cost effective engine manufacturing.

To develop your personality and be recognised as a competent expert within W？rtsil？, the licensees and their sub-suppliers. Write a short description of 1-2 accountabilities for results of processes e.g. results of Sales (volumes, margin) or results of Design (functionality of designed products and applications) or results of Purchasing process etc.

Responsibilities:

To carry out and enforce the implementation of concepts and activities, initiated by W？rtsil？ and directed to improve product quality and cost efficiency.

To attend regularly foundry workshops, verify and assess cast quality and report status and related problems to the Quality & Manufacturing Support of W？rtsil？ relevant teams.

To give professional and timely advice to all Chinese licensees, own factories and their sub-suppliers on cast and design issues.

To form a close working relationship with licensees, own factories and their sub-contractors, ensuring an effective way of communication to promote an ongoing exchange of foundry experience to obtain information required for design improvements by W？rtsil？.

To participate in project teams and to promote new ideas, improvements, techniques.

To constantly train and keep informed about all developments in the field of manufacturing technology.

Development responsibilities:

Develop a platform together with the licensees and own factories where the status of cast quality, design and costs are permanently discussed and solutions for improvements are generated. This shall result in an engine or other application built which is according to the W？rtsil？ specifications and quality expectations and cost effective to ensure competitiveness.

Performing casting simulation to support optimal solutions for casting problems / quality issues.
