1. Role Statement:
The Field Engineer (FE) is the customer-facing technical engineering and application consultant for a number of strategic accounts in a defined territory and/or a specific industry.
The FE is expected to provide full customer support in all technical-related topics in connection with TE products, and lead and facilitate application-level discussions at their assigned customers.
The Account Manager “owns” the customers and manages the accounts, however it is the responsibility of the FE to keep in close contact with the relevant Account Manager regarding discussions with the customer. The FE also works as the interface between the customer and TE Engineering Centers.
2. Key Responsibilities:
- Identify sales and business opportunities with customers within the FE’s region (geographic or industry) to grow the engineering project pipeline in line with the product and technology roadmap.
- Execute conversion of the engineering pipeline into project wins.
- Understand the customer’s strategy and technology roadmap, the market, competition, and trends to identify current and future customer needs. Together with the customer, find appropriate solutions (using either known or new technologies) for customer applications whilst promoting TE’s technical and technology portfolio.
- Drive the design-in and development of new products and / or platforms whilst focusing design efforts on high growth and invest products and markets of TE industrial.
- Be the application expert and discuss new application solution designs with peers to initiate new platforms vs. customer specific designs in order to maximize the TE profit.
- Generate, prepare and present TE proposals (e.g. product selection, design solutions, product specifications, project objectives) to customers in conjunction with the relevant Product Manager/s and in line with LEANPD.
- Proactively interface and communicate with the customer to build and maintain strong relationships:
o Organize and manage regular customer visits, calls and presentations with customers.
o Drive and facilitate customer technology days.
o Develop a network of contacts within customer organization (e.g. Engineering, Project Management, Product Management, R&D etc) and share details of these contacts with relevant Account Manager/s (via Sales Force.com / Account Business Plan).
o Develop higher level relationships within the customer’s design/technology organizations.
o Maintain regular contact with customers to manage customer expectations about project timelines, milestones and deliverables.
o Ensure product samples, supporting design and product verification activities are delivered to customer in agreed timeframes.
- Provide high quality customer support, consulting services and advice on all technical-related topics concerning TE products and customer applications.
- Assess technical complaints from customers and problem solve these issues with new connector solutions.
- Proactively interface and communicate with internal TE stakeholders (e.g. Engineering, Product Management) to build and maintain strong relationships to achieve the customer deliverables and to provide regular project status updates.
- Lead new and existing sales / engineering projects from “demand creation” to “production” phases.
- Provide inputs from customer evaluations and discussions to quality teams to solve quality-related issues with TE products.

- Customer Satisfaction (NPS)
4. Key Qualifications, Experiences & Knowledge:
- University engineering degree (Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, Electronics engineering preferred).
- Previous experience in sales (required) and engineering (preferred).
- A broad and deep knowledge of TE technologies and product portfolio and the relevant customers’ application/s.
- Understanding of LEAN and TEOA principles.
- Ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities in line with business plans.
- High level of written and verbal English communication skills.
- Flexibility in working days and travelling and valid driver’s license.
