The IT Service Desk manages and supports the technology resources in the Shanghai PMC-Sierra Office in support of World-wide PMC-Sierra IT goals.
As a member of the IT Operations group, the candidate will be supervised by a team leader and be engaged in the support of all IT services being delivered in Shanghai and throughout the PMC offices worldwide.
Responsibilities:
· Identifies, tracks, manages, and resolves IT support issues
· Field IT inquiries (phone, email, in person) in a timely and professional manner
· General Administration of Unix/Linux - Installation, Permissions, Creations of Folders, Mail/SMTP, FTP, DNS, Proxy, Samba, Firewall (NAT, IP Tables, Packet Filter, IP Filter), LDAP, NFS, NIS, NFS/CIFS/FCP
· Trouble-shoot UNIX, Linux, Windows issues for hardware, software or network issues.
· Maintain inventory for all end-user hardware
· Proactively manages client expectations to ensure that the IT organization delivers on its commitments
· Work with the other Information Technology teams as a resource for project work or assist with in-depth issues
· Maintains the Sunnyvale LANs and the WANs, and Wireless Access Points
· Assists with all video conferencing meetings and recordings, including post-production
· Keeps up-to-date documentation of standardized procedures, troubleshooting, applications, systems, and network equipment
· Enforces IT standards and educates employees about compliance issues
· Perform software installation, configuration, troubleshooting and updates
· Provide PC and Unix workstation setup and relocation. Moving/installation of workstations/servers.
Qualifications:
· Relevant diploma or degree from a reputable College or University
· 1+ to 2 years related job experience
· Red Hat Linux Enterprise knowledge and skills
· Scripting skills: moderately skilled in a at least two typical scripting languages (shell/bash, perl, python)
· ITIL certification is preferred
· A working knowledge of these technologies: Red Hat Network Satellite, Microsoft Office; Networking technologies; Ethernet and wireless networking and related protocols; hardware installation and support; system security techniques
· Ability to interact with and manage members of cross-functional teams
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Strong organizational and personal discipline skills
· Strong client service skills and an ability to develop a strong client service organization
· Ability to evaluate critical systems, prioritize work, and determine solutions
