At Urban Art Projects (UAP) we collaborate with artists, architects & designers to deliver creative outcomes globally for the public realm. We are explorers. We are creatives. We are makers.
We are currently seeking a passionate and skilled Art + Design Manager (Principal or Senior Associate level) to lead the design team in our Shanghai Studio.
About you
The Design Team is a vital component in UAP’s ability to successfully deliver art projects for a wide range of architectural projects. The successful applicant will be passionate about art, architecture and design. Importantly, they will also have a strong desire to work collaboratively with a variety of creative professionals including but not limited External Curators, Artists, Designers and Built Environment Practitioners.
The Art + Design Manager will be responsible for directing and managing our Art + Design Team through schematic design, design development, preparation of presentation documentation (and other documentation) for approval and sign-off by the Client, and enabling commencement of fabrication documentation and fabrication. The successful applicant will be a vital member of a larger design team consisting of Design Leads as well as 2D graphic and 3D modelling support.
What you need to succeed
This position provides the successful applicant with the opportunity to work on projects both in China and internationally. To success in this role, you will ideally have 15+ years of industry experience in architecture, landscape architecture and/or another design-related fields. As a minimum, the successful candidate will hold a degree or higher qualification in Industrial Design, Visual Arts, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or similar and will be able to demonstrate the following:
* The ability to think quickly and creatively, to formulate new ideas and respond to client direction appropriately with a strong capability to visually convey concepts and creative approaches through sketches or other mediums;
* Communicating and working with designers, curators, artists, project managers, build environment professionals, clients and other project related key stakeholders;
* Proven time management and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines;
* Highly developed attention to detail skills and demonstrated experience in the development of visual layouts/documentation;
* Experience at an intermediate level working in the Adobe Creative Suite and the Microsoft office suite. Experience working in other graphic programs will be highly regarded;
* Fluency in English is essential along with excellent written and verbal communication skills;
* The ability to talk Mandarin will be highly regarded;
* A strong desire to work with a passionate and dedicated team willing to do whatever it takes to deliver projects on time in a fast changing environment;
* Experience in the public realm is desirable but not essential
Salary is and will be based on level of experience and alignment with attributes above upon selection.
