Job Title: Senior MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Location: Shanghai



MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

· Arrange and attend project review meetings

· Communicate design requirements to project team

· Mentor/coach more junior engineers with the aim of improving base knowledge through the dept

· Be instrumental in the creation of concept design and validation of such designs through calculation

· Responsible for delivery of designs and release supervision into customer systems, liaison with customer programme engineers and design groups, transmission, engine and vehicle build teams and suppliers

· 2D design drawing checking and approval, knowledge of drawing standards, limits & fits, GD&T etc...

· Manage activities of project design team

· Lead design reviews

· Report project issues to project team via email, telephone etc and present responses to customer

· Work with Ricardo programme team to identify and develop solutions to technical and programme issues

· Based in Shanghai, but prepared to be flexible in location depending on programme demands

Necessary training will be provided which may include periods in Europe or USA



QUALIFICATIONS

· At least 7 years experience in a design function in Automotive industry

· Qualified to degree level or higher with technical background in base engine and / or transmission design, preferably with experience of European, US or Japanese products

· Proficient in English and Mandarin languages (written and spoken) for project and technical communication

· Literate in IT systems (MS Project, CAD systems (eg ProE / CATIA) and processes used for powertrain design and release activities

· Understanding of material standards and manufacturing and assembly processes in China
