Job Responsibilities:

Zai Laboratory seeks individuals with experience in oncology and/or immunology to provide scientific and technical leadership in its internal discovery programs in cancer and autoimmune diseases. Scientist in this role will work closely with antibody discovery, in vitro and in vivo pharmacology.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Work independently or as a team member in a specific project-relevant area.
  • Develop, perform and interpret in vitro and ex vivo immunology assays, particularly T, macrophage and NK cell-related assays.
  • Culture, maintain, and characterize cells for molecule interaction and function.
  • Interpret, analyze, trouble-shooting results
  • Present data to management and team
  • Communicate with external research groups.
  • May have responsibility to manage or train junior scientists

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • PhD or MS with at least 2 years of industry experience in relevant area of research.
  • Background knowledge in cancer biology and/or cancer immunology is mandatory.
  • Extensive experience in assay development in some or all of the following areas: FACS, ELISAs, cell proliferation, cellular cytotoxicity, immune cell isolation from whole blood or tissues, and other functional assays for the studying of cancer biology and/or immunology.
  • Previous experience in target validation, screening, and characterization of biologic leads is preferred
  • Experience with antibody discovery is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people, internally and externally, are required.
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational and record-keeping skills and capability to multi-task is essential.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and capability to effectively present scientific data and concepts to international standards is required.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in both Chinese and English are required.
