Analyst, Automotive (Research & Analysis)

Summary:
Based in China, the Analyst will be responsible for analyzing and forecasting the performance of commercial-vehicle (truck/bus) OEMs in one or more geographies outside of China, and supporting the senior analyst for China on the local market.
Ideally, the candidate will have an education in a quantitative field;previous commercial-vehicle industry experience; previous experience creating and presenting results of data analysis; and solid Chinese and English language skills.

General Job Duties:
Keep abreast of current automotive industry news and trends.
Leverage data analysis to predict future truck sales and production.
Regularly demonstrate specialized depth and breadth of auto (truck) industry knowledge with customer base through written analytical reports (in English), in-person customer meetings and special consulting agreements.
Communicate directly with clients on a wide range of topics within the auto industry.

Specific Job Duties:
For assigned markets, analyze economic and truck-market trends.
For assigned markets, analyze and forecast automotive OEMs' performance to drive significant revenue in research subscriptions.
Support the senior truck analyst in China on China-related forecast work and ad hoc consulting projects.
Build internal networks at IHS to support achievement of personal targets.
Develop relationships with local media to drive automotive product awareness.
Proactively interact with customers to generate consulting engagements and maintain relationships.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
Minimum 5 years' experience in a related field, ideally in market analysis or sales planning with a truck manufacturer.

Other Skills:
Attention to detail and a love of data are a must. A love of machinery is a big plus.
Highly proficient in computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft).
Demonstrated ability to work independently on multiple projects under tight timelines.
Strong presentation skills.
