1.Area: Publishing
Reports to: Associate Publisher, Health Sciences/China
Location: Shanghai
2. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
？ Responsibility for the expansion of BioMed Central’s portfolio of life science journals originating from China
？ Responsible for the successful launch of the journals acquired
？ Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with KOLs and key institutes in the life science fields
3. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
A. Journal acquisitions
？ Translate company strategy into journal acquisitions actions
？ Identify new journal opportunities in life sciences
？ Sign up new journals including new titles, society journals and journals transferring to BioMed Central
B. Journal management
？ Project management of journal launches
？ Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Editors-in-Chief, society contacts, Editorial Board Members and other stakeholders
？ Strengthen relationship with the partner institutes and identify new opportunities
C. Outreach
？ Build an in-depth knowledge of the publishing landscape in China in order to help guide BioMed Central’s strategy for growth in the region
？ Build a strong network of contacts in China to help drive development of the publishing programme
？ Build relationships with key contacts and opinion leaders within the field the journals operate in
？ Represent BioMed Central at author workshops, institution visits or in conference sessions and delivers successful outcomes in alignment with action plans
？ Incorporate knowledge of publishing trends to inform team strategy in collaboration with Associate Publisher
4. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Knowledge
？ Knowledge of the publishing industry in China and worldwide
？ Master degree or above, with a life science background
？ Interest in open access publishing

Experience
？ Scientific editorial/publishing experience, including contact with editors, authors and reviewers desirable
？ Experience developing and maintaining productive and friendly relations/partnerships with academic and industry-based scientists
