PURPOSE OF FUNCTION
To strengthen the IKEA store as a medium by combining the IKEA Commercial Plan with our national and local plans in order to secure the relevance, attractiveness and competitiveness of the IKEA Brand in every local market. By doing this we maximise sales and long-term profitability.
My main responsibilities are:
? optimising the use of the IKEA store layout and store media by developing and implementing range presentation solutions that strengthen the connection between the IKEA offer and the everyday lives of people
? securing a deep knowledge of all store media and clarifying the main purpose of each medium
? developing and implementing efficient and effective store communication, supporting self-choice and the mechanical sales system
? reflecting the IKEA Brand identity and creating visual impact in all commercial, sales support and co-worker areas.
? stimulating and increasing the interest for home furnishing in order to grow the customer base and the market through: o gaining and applying a deep knowledge of everyday life at home in order to be more relevant and attractive for more people within the store’s primary market area
o using the richness of our range to show many affordable, functional and beautiful home furnishing solutions in distinct and different styles in order to appeal to many individual tastes and needs
o demonstrating how everyday life at home can be improved by using single products or combinations of products
o challenging and encouraging people to see their home in a new way
o creating trust in the IKEA offer by presenting and communicating solutions for a sustainable life at home
o working with vitality to motivate people to visit the IKEA store frequently.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
I ensure my team and I contribute to positioning the IKEA store as the first choice for home furnishings in my primary market area (PMA) in order to maximise sales and long-term profitability. Based on deep knowledge of people’s life at home and a high level of home furnishing competence, my team and I present and communicate the IKEA offer in a way that is attractive and relevant to my local market. My team and I visualise the uniqueness of the IKEA offer to distance us from the competition. I ensure we maximise the impact of our IKEA store as a medium, converting visitors into satisfied customers and stimulating repeat visits by creating vitality throughout the store. I lead and inspire my team to develop and implement:
? store layout as commercial tool
? range presentation
? store communication
I do this in all commercial, Sales support and co-worker areas. I secure high quality, simplicity and cost-consciousness in the execution of our work by using global tools and best practises.
ASSIGNMENT Customers
? I have a deep knowledge and understanding of people’s needs and wants, their living situations and living conditions in my local market. Together with my team I use this knowledge to provide relevant and sustainable home furnishing solutions that improve people’s life at home.
? My responsibility is to ensure an up-to-date store, creating vitality throughout the store which exceeds our visitors’ expectations.
? I contribute to securing a positive store experience for visitors, converting them into satisfied customers, by knowing the IKEA Concept and people’s shopping behaviour in my local market.
? I analyse the Customer Satisfaction survey, Brand Capital and other visitor feedback and use these insights to improve our visitors’ store experience.
? I am responsible for optimising the store layout and for creating a good overview and visual impact. This enables our visitors to experience the total IKEA offer.
? I work with other functions and my team to ensure that our store is always in shape as new.
? I ensure that all sales support and co-worker areas reflect our home furnishing knowledge and Swedishness.
? I am responsible for ensuring that all communication reflects the IKEA visual and copy identity.
? I secure that all communication is:
o prioritised and placed correctly
o consistent and understandable
o clear and uncluttered
o supports self-choice and the mechanical sales system
o guides visitors through the store.
? I always look at our store through the eyes of our visitors by walking the shop floor at different times throughout the day. I do this to secure a high level of visual impact by ensuring: o all work is created and implemented with our visitors in mind
o we minimise the disruption when implementing major rebuilds and other day-to-day activities
o we take time to respond to our visitors’ needs when we are working on the shop floor.
? I ensure our store is always a safe and secure environment for visitors and co-workers.
Commercial/Business
I actively participate within the store management team to create and implement the store business plan. I do this to support the optimisation of sales and our long-term growth by:
? securing the uniqueness of the IKEA identity in range presentation and store communication in order to distance ourselves from the competition.
? ensuring that the range presentation is relevant to the many people’s life at home in my local market, and reflects demographics, living conditions and our visitors’ needs and wants.
? influencing and co-operating with the store commercial team, my Country Communication and Interior Design manager and other support functions to ensure that we focus on the same priorities.
? securing the use of the layout as a commercial tool to plan and implement commercial strategies throughout the store.
? presenting and communicating the IKEA range to reflect its width and depth, and strengthening our low-price profile on all levels.
? working with other functions on the commercial calendar, using different media and sales support areas to ensure there is vitality throughout the store.
? working with my team and the commercial team to plan and implement range changes in a simple and cost-conscious way.
? encouraging my team to take fast action on commercial opportunities, customer feedback, competition, supply issues and volume commitments.
? educating my team and other functions on how to work with manuals, global directions and tools.
? actively supporting and developing co-operation with Sales and In-store Logistics through working closely together, sharing knowledge and respecting each other’s responsibilities to present the range in the most commercial, inspiring and aesthetically appealing way.
I create a department action plan based on input from global and national priorities, and taking into account the local market needs and our store direction. I involve my country matrix as well as my team in this work by:
? defining agreed goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
? coaching my Visual Merchandise/Activity Manager, Interior Design Manager and Graphic Communication Leader to create individual actions plans for each co-worker
? following up the plans and communicating progress to my team.
People
? I recruit my team by searching for a combination of IKEA values and specialist competencies (e.g. interior design, graphic design, visual merchandising and store planning). I take into account the unique requirement of in the Communication & Interior Design (Com&In) team, to combine practical, aesthetic and commercial skills.
? I lead and inspire my team to constantly increase their knowledge of people’s life at home and develop their home furnishing competence.
? I create an environment where the IKEA culture is strong and diversity is valued.
? I ensure efficiency and effectiveness through having the right number of co-workers in the right places at the right times.
? I set clear goals and I make time for regular follow-ups with my team.
? I set clear expectations and standards regarding routines, making sure that they are agreed and regularly followed up on.
