POSITION: Experienced Project Manager, Executive Assistant and Office Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION: We are offering a unique, intensive career opportunity – between China and Canada, to establish an Entrepreneurship program with the purpose of building trade between sister cities we have established between China and in Canada. You will be asked to take related projects break them down into measurable targets and achievable tasks to either complete or delegate to team members whom are located in various cities in both China and Canada. Our organization focuses on mentoring groups of Chinese and Canadian students on how to build business and trade relationships between cities through a project based learning program where students in China and Canada are required to establish profitable companies in a variety of industries to meet their high school learning outcomes. We hope your organizational and planning abilities along with strong desire to help others will grow the number of opportunities we offer for cities, businesses, schools and students in both China and Canada.
We have already piloted this project and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Our first group of grade nine Canadian students came to China for one semester of studies at a Chinese partner school, and have since returned to Canada to begin the Fall Semester with their Chinese classmates. All of the Canadian students who were enrolled wish to continue the Entrepreneurship program while in Canada and also intend to return to China for their second semester of grade ten.
With strong support in Canada and from the Chinese government we hope to increase both the number of these programs along with the enrolment.

BACKGROUND: Vancouver Island Public Schools Association was established as a consortium in 2010, and later incorporated as Vancouver Island Public Schools Association (VIPS) in 2013. VIPS has worked to create partnerships with Chinese and Canadian high schools to provide international exchange opportunities for both Chinese and Canadian students. Each teaching position offered provides prospective teachers the opportunity to join a rapidly growing international education project. Over the past two years, the student enrolment and school partnerships have tripled, with new partnerships established with the Chinese government and in a variety of cities throughout China.
Currently, we are looking for a project manager to manage the details and execution of our service delivery as well as business development efforts to grow our flagship service while also harnessing its major transformative potential. This unique individual has always enjoyed significant responsibility and has a track record of delivering results. It is best if this individual is also inspired by a significant opportunity to make their impact on Global Trade and Education.
Contract Duration: This is a 12-month, or 24-month contract depending on the applicant. The contract would be beginning in either September 2015, or January 2016.

NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree
Significant Track Record of Results and Carefully Planned Execution
Experience in Project Management or Related Activities
Outstanding Work & Personal References
Strong Organizational and Planning Skills
Willingness to Travel both Domestically and Internationally

DESIRABLE ASSETS:
Bilingual in Mandarin Chinese and English
Experience in Trade, Immigration and/or Education
Experience in Managing Government Relations
Marketing Experience
Project Management from a Remote Location
SalesForce or other CRM Experience

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS and CAREER PATHS: In our organization there are 3 basic paths, with the expectation that each person in the organization takes on a leadership role or masters their current role. The three paths are as follows:
Leadership path, the individual who is on the leadership path will be expected to add value both as an instructor as well in another area which supports our organization's growth. The expectation is that this person will eventually grow out of their current role and replace themselves with someone with even greater potential in that role. They will then move on to create a new role for themselves which leverages their unique abilities and interests to support our organization and its growth.
Mastery path, this is also a leadership role in that this individual is committed in continually learning about and developing their skills in their current role. They will the act as a mentor for others who are wishing to develop in the same area.
Job completion, for individuals who are only interested in treating their work as a job and only interested in completing the minimum requirements of their job they will likely not have their contracts continued if our organization chooses to not replace them earlier with an individual who is committed to developing in either career paths 1 or 2.

LOCATION: Our main office is in Shanghai, though our programs generally run at schools in 3rd-4th tier cities in China and in Canada. The schools are all located in areas of large economic development primarily in the industries of tourism, mining, manufacturing, real estate, and secondary and post-secondary education.

COMPENSATION: To be negotiated; ranging between 10-20, 000Rmb/mo plus incentives.
