Summary:

• To manage all mechanical department activities including the execution of necessary mechanical engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning tasks for all projects and to ensure that they are completed on time, within budget and with the highest possible quality

Responsibilities:

• Management Tasks
• Establish and manage all necessary departmental resources, standards, systems and plans to ensure the successful execution of assigned projects
• Engineering Tasks
• Oversee the preparation of all mechanical, piping and tankage engineering drawings, documents and calculations required for each project
• Ensure engineering drawings and documents produced by others are delivered as per contract
• Procurement Tasks
• Oversee the preparation of specifications, selection and procurement of all mechanical/piping/tankage equipment and associated installation materials required for each project
• Ensure that any mechanical equipment or material, which is in the scope of others, is supplied as per contract
• Construction Tasks
• Oversee the preparation of the specifications and scope of work for the mechanical/piping/tankage installation contracts
• Control the activities of the installation contractor(s) to ensure complete compliance with contractual obligations
• Check out/Commissioning Tasks
• Oversee the planning and execution of the activities necessary to fulfill APP GPG’s obligations for assistance to the client with the check out and commissioning of the mechanical, piping and tankage
• Budget and Schedule Control
• Plan and execute all tasks in a manner that will ensure all project mechanical work is within budget and on time
• Quality Control
• Monitor and control all engineering, procurement and construction tasks to ensure the mechanical work is of the highest quality
• Tracking & Reporting
• Monitor all phases of engineering, procurement and construction for progress, costs, problems and other pertinent information
• Report the result to senior management as required

Qualifications:

• EDUCATION :
• Graduate Mechanical Engineer
• EXPERIENCE :
• Minimum 15 years of industrial mechanical/piping experience with at least 10 years in an engineering environment covering a wide range of projects and including at least 5 years as a Project Team Leader or Department Head
• Pulp & Paper experience and international work experience desirable.
• SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:
• Intimate knowledge of all phases of mechanical /piping engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning. In depth knowledge of mechanical and piping systems and tanks including the latest of the art technology and product
• Proficient in the use the computer for all phases of mechanical/piping engineering work and competent in the use of all common Microsoft application software
• Excellent command of written and spoken English
• BUSINESS UNDERSTANDING
• Good understanding of management, engineering, procurement and construction practices and a reasonably good knowledge of the pulp and paper industry.
