Product Technologist:SH2012-04

Job Profile:

· Work closely with Design and Buying to provide technical support and information suitable for our Global Manufacturers to follow.
· Review design specs and samples to risk assess products, resolve issues on construction and safety and work towards ensuring products are production viable.
· Support and monitor the sealing process with the overseas offices and with suppliers.
· Develop packaging warnings and product user guides as appropriate to product.

· Technically manage sample briefing and review with aim of first right time samples submitted inline critical path dates.
· Manage sealing process in line with required dates with full authority to approve in appropriate product categories.
· Ensure construction and design meets requirements in terms of safety and performance standards.

· Analysis of customer returns data to identify appropriate actions to improve product quality and reduce returns and customer dissatisfaction and improve quality of products.
· Be aware of comparable standards in competitors and other manufacturers with the aim of ensuring Mothercare group.
· Support team members in the development of knowledge of Mothercare group processes and standards.
· Liaise with Production quality management team in handover at appropriate times to ensure continuity of required quality in mass production.

· Support the implementation of the global sourcing and technology strategies
· Develop product, safety and performance knowledge with support from UK teams.
· Provide appropriate information to suppliers to enable the implementation of Mothercare group requirements.

· Support the development of new suppliers including factory approvals as appropriate
· Manage the implementation of Mothercare Responsible Sourcing code of conduct in the supply base.
· Support the supplier appraisal process

Job Requirement:

· Previous experience (3-5 years) in a toys/general home product technology role or manufacturing environment.
· Understanding of construction / product requirements for :
o Plush and basic plastic toys
o Basic plastics and homeware products
o General softlines products
· Proactive approach and experience of developing products to be production viable.
· Good working knowledge of Microsoft office.
· Good oral and written communication skills.
Good knowledge of English,Mandarin
