The primary job of the Assistant Editor is to organize and manage the cutting room. The Assistant Editor is responsible for meeting the editor’s deadlines for preparing and digitizing dailies, storyboards, and dialogue, in addition to any additional editing work that needs to be completed.

Proficiency in Avid required.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Responsibilities to Production
- Delivery of worktapes, dupes and change notes to the sound and music editors.
- Handles all dupe requests from production.
- Responsible for distribution of sequences, clips, shots, lists, references, etc. to the tech departments as needed.
- Supplying material to the trailer house as well as for teasers, commercial, and foreign version production as per the distributor.
- Works with Production Coordinator in the ordering and booking of services and supplies necessary for production, i.e. sound effects libraries, film stock, booking time for transfers, telecine, etc.
- Works with coordinator in updating/maintaining editorial schedule.
- Attend story and production meetings when the Editor is unable to attend.
- Overall responsible for keeping the cutting room organized and documented.

Responsibilities to Editorial
- Manage the film and Avid cutting rooms.
- Build first assemblies of storyreel sequences for the editor to cut.
- Log/digitize audio from recording sessions.
- Manage Avid drive space and project settings throughout the show.
- Distribute media clips into correct bins.
- Builds first assemblies of storyreel sequences for the editor to cut.
- If time allows cut temp. SFX for storyreel.
- Support trailer, teaser, commercial and foreign version production as per the distributor.
- Manage Avid drive space and project settings throughout show.
- Attend story and production meeting when the Editor is unable to attend.
