Position Targets:
As the communications advocate for assigned product lines, this individual is responsible for writing content and working with internal and external graphic designers to develop a suite of marketing materials to stimulate interest and drive sales. Specific projects include worldwide retail packaging, online and print advertising, in-store or event displays, photography and videos. This person actively participates in multifunctional launch teams and works closely with product and channel marketing to assure that our products are properly positioned and communicated to target markets. Additional responsibilities are assigned based upon availability. Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Job Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with product marketing domestically and internationally to develop and implement go-to-market strategies, marketing communications programs, collateral and content necessary to drive brand awareness, strategy and preference for WD products.
2. Help shape and drive marketing strategy and program locally to growth TAM and market.
3. Manage outside vendors including advertising agencies, marketing agencies, video production companies and photographers to drive delivery of concepts and materials for assigned products.
4. Support channel marketing worldwide for marcom materials and asset requests.
5. Write descriptive and/or sales copy for collateral, displays, and corporate and partner websites.
6. Set production schedules and lead quality and technical review cycles to ensure all project deadlines are met.
7. Provide direction to internal graphic design staff and external vendors.
8. Assure that the brand image and message are consistent in all materials published for external and internal communications worldwide.
9. Manage key componments of marketing budget.
10. Other duties may be assigned

Minimum of 5-8 years of marketing and communications experience with strong emphasis in the following:
- Integrated and multi-channel marketing
- Strategic positioning and message development
- Digital channels, platform and tools
Education and/or Experience
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing or related studies.
2. 8--10 years’ experience in marketing communications or related field.
3. Working knowledge of network storage and home entertainment technologies.
4. Experience directing graphic designers and marketing agencies.
Specific Knowledge/Skills
1. Express ideas in a clear, compelling manner, build relationships and effectively interface with colleagues, partners and customers at all levels.
2. Collaborate interdepartmentally on the development and implementation of marketing communications programs, collateral and deliverables necessary to drive brand awareness, acceptance and preference for WD products.
3. Effectively translate strategic needs of the sales and marketing teams to deliver the right tools and materials to maximize success.
4. Manage and prioritize multiple projects concurrently with aggressive timelines and rapid changes to priorities.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Proficient copywriter for both product descriptive copy and compelling sales copy for a variety of target audiences.
7. General understanding of print production processes.
Language Skills, able to:
1. Excellent reading, writing and speaking skills in English.
2. Use good grammar, correct punctuation and spelling.
3. Speak effectively one-on-one and in medium group situations.
Mathematical Skills, able to:
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Able to compute rate,
ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability, able to:
1. Proficiently solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
2. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
